 Danger for kids!
The landlord of this pub can be seen protecting a paedophile and threatening paedophile hunters on YouTube under the following title.....ONLINE PREDATOR BUSTED IN A PUB.

 For Tourists only
Lovely pub in a fantastic setting. Beer kept well but over priced, £3.60 for a pint of Peroni. Food nice but again pricey. This is one for the tourists and not the locals.

 Good for kids/families
But stay away otherwise. This is a Brewsters pub and has a soft, supervised play area. Other than that the drink and food are overpriced and there are so many different choices on the food menu that it can't possibly all be fresh, microwave springs to mind. There is plenty of parking tho as it shares a car park with a hotel next door.

 Too pricey
The Acorn Inn is a nice country type pub, good food and good beer but way too pricey, was charged £2.00 for a small bottle of water for the driver.

 Enquiry
I was walking past the cherry tree today, and I was sad to see its current state. I'd love to take on then paid and restore it to its former glory, but I can't find any record of it being for sale, so If anybody has any information it would be gladly appricated.

Nice pub, shame about the prices.
Although the address on this site says Shipley it's actually in the Village of Baildon, about 2 mls from Shipley. The pub had a total and very tasteful refit in 2013 and is now the 2nd nicest pub in the village (after the Malt Shovel). After a visit withn my brother after the refit we found the price of drinks had risen by about a third, e.g. 2 pints of a certain ale came to £6.40 but 2 pints of the same ale in the Malt later that evening left me change from a fiver. Still worth a visit just to have a look.

Not happy with treatment here 5/7/2011
On my recent visit to the U.K. I was embarrassed by the staff of the Wrose Bull who asked me to remove my baseball cap, so I could be identified on camera. An intrusion on MY civil rights to sit and have supper with friends and family. Apparently house policy? no other explanation. Other customers were shocked by this. I have never been so humiliated like this in front of other customers. I will NEVER come here again and suggest that people take money and customer elsewhere. Made to feel unwelcome. Tell your friends to find another pub that respects you and does not make you feel like a terrorist. What a way to treat a customer!!! At every other pub/restaurant I was in over the last 2 weeks in the U.K. I saw many CCTV covering the parking lots and entrances, but never inside while you were eating. This was outrageous on the part of the staff. What a night for me and my family. Never again. We left as soon as we could. Many people in the restaurant commented on this. I suspect they too will think before coming to the Wrose Bull. None of my family or friends will ever come there again. Why would they?
Very dissatisfied with this place. Terrible experience. Iain, Toronto, Canada.

Having changed its name and many refurbs later, this Nightclub is simply the best. The best music, the best entertainment, the best customer service.... do i need to go on. Also they are actually cheaper than many pubs in the area, with a membership card scheme that makes drinks deals great value!!

 Shipley Pride should be closed
For the sake of your health and wellbeing do not frequent this pub!

The To Let sign does indeed mean the lease is up for sale (again).

It has had 2 different chav landlords in the last 6 months and unfortunately neither know how to keep their lines clean or keep good quality ale.

Just for the Sport fans Sky TV has been taken out, so the punters are forced to watch episodes of Corrie, Eastenders and other Chav TV delights.

If no money is put in the juke box it subjects the listener to easy listening singalongamax numbers.

The poor condition of the ale is not reflected in the rather steep prices and the surly bar staffs' attitude is like it or lump it.

For God's sake if the state of the toilets is anything to go by do not touch any of the bar food.

We went in on the landlord's birthday and he was in a shocking drunken mess.

It is dead most of the time and that is how the staff like it.

What a fantastic beer drinking establishment. The location itself is enough to draw people here by the canalside, but the pub is in a league of its own. Umpteen different real ales on draught kept by a cellerman who knows his job, the bar area and room has masses of character and charm with all sorts of canal and barge nick nacks to ponder on hanging on the walls plus all other sorts of effemera to draw your attention and interest, both amusing and fascinating. What a cosy and intimate atmosphere this place has. Not many places could better what this fine pub has to offer 10outof10.

Smashing train station pub. A choice of weell kept real ales, ever changing. Emma is a fine barperson hostess with people who know what they are doing behind the bar. Always a good conversational chinwag going on with some real characters. Sky tv for sporta fans and excellent music both live at the weekend and canned midweek with some classic tunes. A very fine bar indeed oh and the architecture aint bad either.

 Too big for it's boots!
We visited for lunch on 14th Augusr 2009. Very busy lunchtime service with 2 waitresses and 1 barman. Despite having a 1 o'clock reservation and arriving at 12.50 we were not served our starter until 1.40pm.
Food was standard pub fare and nothing to write home about unfortunately the prices didn't match. For 2 starters, 2 mains and 3 drinks the bill came to £45.00, way over the top.
There are better deals to be had in the close vicinity. Not somewhere we will revisit.

The Wheatley was closed down 30th June 2002
After a seven year wait it has been reopened as a very smart bistro pub/hotel WITH A PUBLIC BAR.
There's a choice of local real ales and imported lager and very fine food. For some reason Landlord is almost rudely overpriced, drink something else. Smartest pub in Yorkshire and you can raise a glass to the uniquely bloody nose given to Punch Taverns- they shut the only pub in the village and lost millions. Hurrah.

 WORLDS END - PUDSEY
Having read with, some amusement, the previous entries about the worlds end I can happily tell you things have improved dramatically.
The previous Landlady, who most would agree had some problems, is no longer involved and has been replaced by some quite friendly staff including the a very affable new bar manager/chef chap (who s name i can t remember!). The beer is good and the atmosphere is certainly improving! Worth another look if it was just the last owners who put you off...

Greenwood Inn has gone and been replaced by a great new bar, (b@r Place) food is amazing, the best service I have come across and a brilliant atmosphere. Just need to work on adding some cask ales, which might not be in keeping with the city bar image but means they'll get even more custom!

 BEST TAPROOM IN SHIPLEY
Two pubs in one, a best room frequented by the 50 somethings, looking for a good meal and any scurrolous rumours and a heaving taproom crammed to the rafters with lagers swilling footballers and real ale buffs disguised as rugby union fanatics.  One of the best Sunday Lunches I've had.
The view from the beer garden at this pub HAS to be seen to be believed. On a clear day you can see for miles. The decor is great, staff are friendly and above all the food is wonderful. In a day and age where food comes pre-packed in many pubs, it's nice to see home cooked joints and vegetables.

 Worst pub in UK
This is, without any doubt, the worst pub I have ever had the misfortune to visit.

We were taken there by a relative for lunch on a Saturday because the pub had put an advert in the local paper offering good food and a free bottle of wine.

when we got there we were struck by the car park, which had one car.

on entering, the stink of stale beer was overpowering in the empty bar.

the dining room was less revolting, but was no more welcoming, with two miserable other customers picking at their food when we arrived.

the five of us ordered our food. the waitress repeatedly asked us over and over what we wanted. she almost got it right.

the chef did not.

Our two steak and ale pies were totally INEDIBLE. They were burnt so badly that not only was the crust a black layer of ash, (which i was prepared to eat anyway) but the filling tasted like the chef had poured several sponnfuls of soot into it and added a lump of coal for good measure

I have NEVER sent back anything in a pub or restaurant in my life. I usually just grin and bear it. (and i have never felt the need to complain on a website either)

But this was the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted.

The chips we got with all our meals were practically raw.

the chicken like rubber.

the two other customers walked out without eating their food, and, I hope, without paying.

we were charged for it all, and did we get an apology from anyone?

no, on the contrary, we were met with cold threatening stares from the chef who we found smoking at the bar when we came to pay the bill. the manager did nothing other than argue that i should pay for the food i had not, could not eat.

The icing on the cake was that they only too cash!

It was a surreal experience.

A word of warning: NEVER VISIT THIS PUB. NOT EVEN FOR A DRINK.

you may not make it out alive.

we received

 VERY rude landlady.
Having often visited pub to listen to excellent regular folk band Aikens Drum, I was disappointed to find the pub empty and deserted on October 30th. Tried again on 20th November and it was again totally empty. Went in anyway, ordered a drink from smart, spiky haired lady and politely asked about live music. Was treated to downright truculent response and was cross questioned about who had written my script and what did I know. When I protested at her outrageous rudeness she said she could do far better and feeling quite threatened, I left, never to return. Surely Pudsey Chamber of Commerce and the local Licensed Victuallers would like a more welcoming landlady for this towncentre venue???

 Rude and unhelpful staff!
We thought the Alma Inn was in such an idealistic setting that it would be perfect for our wedding reception next summer. We made an appoinment to meet with the manager hoping to set the ball rolling. However, this was not to be, our plans never really got off the ground. Firstly the manager (who made the appoinment) failed to turn up. The landlord and lady didn't seem over concerned that this had happened, we were made to feel as if we couldn't have turned up at a worse time (even though the pub wasn't busy and we had been told to come at that time). We put this down to a bad day made another appointment and this time the manager did turn up, though I don't know why he bothered as he clearly wasn' that intersted in our plans or what we had to say. I figured I could resolve this via e.mail. In corresponding with the manager I found that the Alma offered no individuality thought or consideration to the fact that this was our special day they suggested lots of things other people had wanted but nothing that was tailored to our needs, this was causing such a headache. I had managed to book our wedding, 4 hotels and flights to Asia via e.mail but couldn't get anything organised at the Alma, which was just up the round. In the end I rang the manager and cancelled explaining quite politely that we had decided that this establishment wasn't for us as it simply did not meet our requirements. To my surprise the landlord rang back and gave me a mouthfull suggesting I find another venue (hadn't I just had a conversation to say that was our intention?), when I wasn't prepared to argue he hung up. I have never come across such rude and unhelpful people in all of my life. I would not recommend booking a function here until the management buck up their ideas and become customer focused rather than profit focused.

landlady - spiky hair, spiky personality
Weekday lunchtime, very quite, no more than 5 people in, I bought a drink, sat down and started to look through a magazine, when after a couple of minutes the grey spiky haired landlady (I presume) came up to me and said, Finish your drink and leave. I was dumbfounded. No reason, no explanation. I asked her why? And was told in no uncertain terms she didn't need a reason why.

I said to her that just out of politeness she should tell me why she decided to kick me out seeing as I done nothing and was baffled, as to how sitting down could have caused her so much anxiety that she had to tell me to leave. Same response, rude shake of her head, she didn't have to tell me, and coul I leave.

I’d had a couple of sips of beer so asked for my money back and she even said there was nothing wrong with it? Baffling again.

At one point she even grabbed my bag and took it outside and placed it on a wall outside and told me to drink outside? It was just the most surreal thing. So weird that I had to look round the net to find anything about this pub, and found this site, which explains everything. If she thinks someone’s out to ruin her pub all she needs to do is take a look in the mirror.

I couldn’t really stay mad at the her, it was all just too bizarre.

 Appalling!
On a Sunday afternoon at 2:30, after a delicious visit to the Wetherby Whaler with my grandparents and parents. We decided to visit the Worlds End as it seemed a pleasant pub. We stood at the bar for 15 minutes gradually thinking the beer must be self service, until I went upstairs to hear a bar lady telling someone the pub was about to close, consequently I went downstairs to inform my family, and they asked me to walk down the small road (which the pub was on) to see if the pub over the road was open. I did this and when I got to the bottom of the road a woman in a suit approached me saying I was not allowed to go back up the road, to which I asked why? She arrogantly informed me that my family was not in the pub, which since I had just left them seemed a little odd, as they had definitely not come out! So as I tried to return to inform my family of the other pubs, which were open, she continued confronting me - in a very aggressive manner, she continued shouting at me saying I was not to return to the road after I had informed my family. Consequently I was very confused as I thought nowadays public roads entitled people to have ‘public’ access. My family then left the pub and returned to the car park, which the woman followed us into the car park and watched us get into the car. As we drove past we noticed the woman moving the signs for the pub, so it turned out that she was the landlady! We were very surprised as we valued this pub as a friendly pub but it is obviously run by an obnoxious highly confused landlady who instead of running a pub and either serving or telling people that the pub is closed, would rather be patrolling the streets as a power crazy street warden! I would seriously not recommend visiting this pub, as it was a great disappointment to my family and me and would definitely never advise any one to visit here! The arrogance of this woman was despicable and I would not tolerate it in a zoo let alone in the street! Would you want her serving our drinks?

The bar staff were lazy and rude and it was clear that the land lady didnt want to do any work. i was also speaking to an elderly local whom said that a few of their friends had stopped going in as they felt the pub had changed. It was around 10pm when we left and there must have been 5 or 6 kids in the hall way and outside. there was also a boy of about 7 in the front room of the pub. I wasnt sure wether to report this or to ignore it I still cant beleive the landlord and landlady stood for this. I can tell you I was talked into calling for a drink and i for one will not be rushing back nor will I be recommending the pub to friends and family.

... but it has its good points, too
Without wishing to contradict the others (bearing in mind that some of my friends have had similar treatment), I will say that it isn't all bad.

Yes they have had more than their fair share of staffing problems over the last year or so.

On the other side of the balance, the beer (Theakston's and Greene King Abbott) is usually good-to-excellent, except the odd occasion when the cellar management falls short.

Live music: modern Jazz every Mon, Folk every other Sun or so, occasional bands Fri.

Quiz Tues, music quiz Weds, ocassional DJ Thurs.

Interesting decor (piccy at http://www.clanvis.com/pudsey/taproom.htm)

Seating could be improved.

Non-smoking areas (good IMO, your mileage may vary)

Popularity has declined since the late license is no longer exercised, and the Fri and Sat Discos stopped.

Best food i have ever had!
This pub is amazing and worth a visit no matter how far you need to drive!
It has just been taken over and the new people have made the menu fantastic and the food is fantastic!
I would recommend this pub to anyone looking for a high class meal and decent prices. The service is top notch as well.
I would advise to book in advance though as they seem to be very busy all the time ... no surprises to be honest!

 Mad Landlady
This pub is really nice apart from the landlady and her staff! Myself and my friend along with our Girlfriends called in for a quiet drink on a Monday night. There are signs outside asking if anyone knows of people trying to sabotage the Worlds End and apparrently these have been posted to most houses within the area. We are all of around the age of 24 and were asked to produce ID by a young lad behind the bar........Ok a bit of a compliment you may think, but no the landlady is obssesed by the thought that someone is trying to sabottage her business and asks her staff to vet every new face. We were subsequently thrown out. Why you ask............. wait for it.........because the landlady thought we were spy's!!!!!!!

the most rude and appalling service ever in a pub
After buying a pint and taking it back because i and my 3 companions didn't think it tasted right i was agressivly told various times that the pipes were clean and the beer was fine. maybe i'd never tried this beer and didn't know what it tasted like to you must have put something in the beer . I promply told the landlady that she knew nothing about customer service and she would not be recieving my custom ever again and in return was promptly barred from the pub along with my companions on the way out. So much for a quiet sunday afternoon drink.

 Like a pub should be
Nice friendly pub, just like a pub should be, Dave and Margeret always make you feel welcome, Jam sessions are on at odd times, you get the chance to see some of the best musicians around. No jukebox, and always someone to chat to.

 Karaoke Rules
What a superb night on a friday and saturday night the greatest night out you'll have in Mirifled by a long way. Especially during the summer with gas heaters outside and a huge patio area why go anywhere else? Not really a childrens pub it has to be said!

Karen
 thanks
hello, my name is Karen, my uncle Les (Lloyd) has been coming to your pub for several years. I would like to thank you and his friends there for your friendship towards him and caring enough to seek him out when he didn't appear at the pub. I'm sure you will miss him as I do.
I thought the world of him.
Living in Australia prevented me from attending his funeral.

thanks again........
