 Oh dear
15 minute wait in restaurant to be told by barman that he was on his own. After ordering, food arrived 20 minutes later, but not what we ordered. However looked good so we ate, but it turned out it was someone else's meal! Good compensation, but don't bother going there to eat.

 Appalling service
2 visits in June/July this year on recommendation, as new management. 30 minutes wait for 2 sandwiches and 1 hour and 20 minutes wait for 4 meals on a Friday night. Great food but I will NEVER go there again.

 Good Bar
Nice atmosphere. Pleasant courtyard garden. Very friendly staff. Good food at good prices. OK, normally only one decent real ale, but the very name should tell you it's really a place for wine drinkers. And they do have a good selection of wines.

 Fantastic!!
What a fantastic bar! Brillaint atmosphere and everyone is so so friendly! Can chat to punters and staff for hours! and quite often do! The drinks are a good price and to go there on a Friday or a Saturday night is the way to make the evening. Food is good and take many clients there for lunch. Now spending at least three days a week there. Anyone who says this place is anything but perfect needs their head seeing to!

 Great pub
Stopped in and had a lovely lunch in their garden this weekend. Barlady was friendly and service was quick. Two excellent Selsey crab salads for lunch, really big and fresh. Ciders were cold. Sun was shining. All in all enjoyable. We will be back.

P A the happy !!
 Call that a measure
Please go to the pretentious establishment that is Bar Vin. Queue for half hour to get your drink, after you've waited outside for 20 minutes to get in !!! its a pub for gods sake. Then take your short measure you've been given by one numerous bar staff, (what do they all do !! ) but be careful not to put it down or else one of those afore mentioned bar staff will take it away claiming its empty (oh thats what they do !!) . find a sit, yeah right ok sorry I forgot where I was, what I meant to say was, squeeze passed every other sardine they've shoe horned in to the place, try and locate yourself close to toilet or the door though. either way be ready for a quick exit once you've had enough of being buffeted like skeggy in december, you would actually stay dryier in skegness in winter though. Enjoy it though its great !!! One plus point is generally numerous ladies very easy on the eye. !!!

 Very disappointing
Awful service from a very incapable, brash and cocky bar steward. The service was slow, the food very mediocre, and we too felt that we were ignored in favour of regulars. The said barman also overcharged us once for the drinks and then again for the meal! If this was an innocent mistake then fine, but to be so impertinent when it was pointed out to him is not acceptable in my view. Idiot.

 Proper Pub, Great food!
When we first moved to Horsham, everyone we knew in the area mentioned the Black Jug as a great place to go. The fantastic fresh and varied menu, the no-nonsense approach to everything, no invasive duke box or slot machine noises and fantastic local beer and non-smoking throughout makes the Black Jug a fantastic place to visit for a meal, or an evening with friends.

 avoid at all costs!
Having visited this pub today I can honestly say I will not be returning. My friends and I were ignored at the bar in favour of regulars, although we failed to see why there were any regulars! We were greeted by a surly landlord who after lunch ticked us off for returning our coffee cups as he didn't like crockery littering his bar. When we ordered a second round of drinks, because we didn't return our glasses we were rewarded with hot, still soapy glasses from the dishwasher. Had we felt stronger we might have complained but as we are all recently out of hospital we were looking for a nice friendly pub for a good meal. The food was over priced for very indifferent bland salads served without dressing and in comparison with other local pubs it is a non-starter. We will not be returning

 All Hail the Ale!
A great old ale house with superbly kept Badger ales. (A specially designed window lets you see into the cellar from the bar which let you know the licensee's standards are high. Male dominated, and no food beyond a cheese roll but this is a friendly boozer with good service, and superb beer - what else do you need.

Sorry, That 'no rosettes, no comment' posting was in error. This place is completely recommended. I had lunch here with friends in workbreak & again with family later that week on both occasions to be totally impressed with the extensive spirits and wine selection, and food menu. I'll be visiting again! It is non- smoking and it's brilliant, you can still go outside under the heaters for a smoke if that's your thing.

 Superb!
Have just returned from The Wise Old Owl (This used to be my place of work, many years ago when it used to be Cromwells) for a Mothers Day/Birthday meal.

I had only returned once since, and was not impressed.

After hearing it had changed again we thought we would give it a try.

What a great surprise!
The staff are on the ball, they are polite and have a sense of humor. Service is excellent, and there was no pressure.

Overall, a fine and well priced evening out. We will be returning for more.

Pub is now non-smoking but you can sit outside outside if a smoker-they've small but surprisingly powerful heaters! Fantastic place to come for food, yeah it is part of a chain Wetherspoons, but great choice and staff are are very friendly and service great. Can get very busy but wheras before non-smoking had a huge % young people in now becoming a mix of all ages, groups of people all enjoying the atmosphere! And the cheapest place in town!

 No room at the Inn!
How disappointed we were on Saturday night (28th May) when we stopped at The Holmbush Inn in Faygate to have a drink to celebrate a friend's birthday. There was nowhere to sit because all the tables were reserved for eating! And I mean all the tables! There was just one sofa for people to sit at but this was already occupied. The landlady made us feel most unwelcome.
We had already ordered our drinks so stood uncomfortably at the bar then went as soon as possible to another more hospitable pub. This was very bad service. There is a large restaurant area already! We had to stand at the bar while the reserved tables were empty.
We have been to the Holmbush many times in the past,( haven't been for a few years), and were always sure of a warm welcome. We have eaten in the restaurant many times. We won't be going there again! We will go where we are made welcome whatever amount of money we are spending.

Fantastic food, lovely interior, nice people
We wanted to visit at short notice, mid week. They were fully booked but said they could fit us in if we went early and left the table in time for the next booking. Glad we did. The food was fantastic and staff very friendly. The interior is lovely, if a bit noisy with office leavers the day we went (this was 6pm after all) but overall a lovely experience. Highly recommended even if you do have to plan ahead to get a table.

 Same old lovely pub
Nice to see the old pub has not changed, there are very few of these proper pubs left in the area and it will be such a shame if the pub becomes a dwelling. Still made to feel welcome after all these years by the same barman. Excellent!!!

 Unfriendly
We regularly used to cycle from Cranleigh to the Thurlow Arms in Rudgwick with our kids. The pub was usually open and the drinks very pleasant after a bike ride. The owners must have changed as we recently arrived at 5pm only to be made very unwelcome - the pub and its facilities are not open - didn't you read the notice on the door?. We will certainly think again before embarking for the Thurlow Arms - what a shame!
