Jo Longmuir Great Refurb, really good atmosphere.
Having just visited the Alexandra Arms I was really surprised. They have undergone a huge refurbishment connecting the two bars together and bringing the pub into the 21 century! The staff were really friendly and the bouncy castle in the garden for the children was great. My children wanted pasta off the full menu and the staff offered to halve the portion between the two girls. I think it is this kind of understanding and good service which will definitely make me return. Great steaks as well, and at an affordable price.

unfortunately there has been a change in the management of this premises. t he staff running it now are young and have been known to be rude to the customers. the food is ok, especially the specials. they have a weekly quiz night on a thursday - cash prize if you are lucky. (and their answers match the real answers) appart from the staff - who have been know to swear at customers (even over the microphone during quizzes) and the down and out rudeness by certain members of staff (supposedly management) this is a great place to eat .... just dont take your mother as she may be offended.

I was very impressed with this pub. I visited it for lunch one day with my husband and granddaughter and I then contacted Gary the Manager before my 60th birthday and explained that there would be 12 of us on a Tuesday evening. He gave me menus and asked if I could let him know what everyone wanted for starters, mains and desserts and he would ensure that everyone's meals came out at the same time. He even telephoned me before to check what veg they wanted with their main meals and how they would like their steaks etc. cooked. When we went for our meal, they had laid the tables up especially for us and pushed tables together so that we could all sit together. The food and the service were excellent and terrific value for money. We would have no hesitation in visiting again.

Tony Skilton Reheated packet meals??????????
There were fourteen of us eating last week for a works end of term get together so you would expect that little extra for us to return especially as we have always enjoyed our Xmas lunch there. I had two colegues next to me who had the fish and chips and I must say that it was excellent but my Thia red curry for nearly £8 was a disgrace! When I paid for it I did ask if I could have a good portion of rice as I was hungry and was told that would not be a problem but it was a very small portion. In fact I would say that the curry was a reheated packet 'ready meal' with a few pieces of naan bread. Others had similar complaints and I don't think we shall be having Cristmas lunch there again. TIP - Always offer good value for a good product !!
