 George Hotel, Ashton.
Long gone. I remember seeing it as a kid in the 60's. The cellars remained as licenced premises and called The Cavern, then The Underground and now Olivers Bar.

Dear sirs, would you kindly disclose your source for the beautiful and abundant and healthy hanging baskets. They are truly wonderful. Also how often are they watered or is there an automatic watering system attached
Thank you and kind regards

When we first arrived i knew it was going to be a bad night when the larger was flat and when i complained the bloke behind the bar was both rude and obnoxious.
the food tasted like it had come out of a microwave oven and was cold

Fantastic food and staff, Once you have tasted their wonderful meals you will definitely go again. Another plus is that the menu is changing all the time. Price is exceptionaly cheap condsidering what you get is equivalent of a five star restaurant.

After a 5 mile walk, myself, my wife and two friends visited the Roaches Lock for lunch today. The service was excellent, the food exceptional and the value for money (2 courses for £4.95, 3 courses for £5.95) was incredible. We'll definitely be paying many more return visits.

 very upset
I brought my elderly mother here for her 78th birthday, following many friend's reccomendations.

We had such a horrible experience, we left with my mother in tears and I was unable to calm her down after the way she was spoken to by a member of staff who brought her the wrong meal. Not once, but twice. By the time they came with the meal she ordered, I had already finished mine and what made it worse was we were charged for the two meals that were wrongly brought to my mother.

we told the girl who charged us that we never had those meals and she said that they are shown as being ordered and she checked with the kitchen and they were served to us.

I was trying to remain calm and as i was explaining yet again the situation, my mother tried to calm it by saying she would pay for the extra food. At this moment we both overheard the waiter explaining to a barstaff member about what was going on and he said very loudly the silly old f*ck doesn't knowwhat she ordered

the girl on the till even heard, she turned to look at them both and then back at me and my mother.

I was speechless, I quickly paid the full bill (including the two extra meals). and left without saying a word, my mother was so upset. I will not be returning. EVER.

 Could have been better
We visited Easter Sunday and ordered 4 adult meals and 2 kids meals. The choice for kids is limited. When they brought the food one kids meal was missing, we had to wait 10 minutes before it was brought out, in the meantime everyone else had nearly finished. Very, very dissapointing. The food is quite tasty but the portions are small and expensive. I think it's only saving grace is the location. The setting is beautiful.

This pub has been taken over by 2 guys in February 2011 and they're making changes which seem to be for the best so far...
Wednesday, April 20, 2011Rating: rosettes

on arrival the pub looked in need of refurbishment, we were seated at a table and waited 20mins to be asked what drinks we wanted, another 20 mins for our food order, the food arrived, another 20 mins. The food overall was disgusting way too much salt, my sister had veggie curry which was VILE, all in all a disappointment.

We arrived at 6:00pm on one of the hottest days of the year expecting to be able to get a meal outside on the patio. After ordering drinks we tried to order food. We were told that they had decided to not serve food outside; no reason given. The person apparently incharge of the patio area was busy with her friends at one of the patio tables finishing a meal and drinks. We left disgusted.

We too have tried the Roe Cross and i must say the food is really good and they serve 5 cask ales in the pub. We now eat there instead of the waggon and horses as do many of their customers. The landlord of the waggon is so rude and seems to think you should be privaliged eating in his pub, and like the previous comment the food is nothing special just pub grub. Very average

This local pub is a nice friendly little local, with an outdoor beer garden and serves food daily. It is really nicely decorated inside with lots of interesting memrobilia dotted around. They serve hot drinks and food all day and do a sunday lunch starting a £7.95 for 2 course, but must be booked in advance.

i also agree with the 2 previous comments. we were waiting for over an hour for our food and when we copmlained we were literaly told if you dont like it go somewhere else. Which we did and found a lovely pub just up the road called The Roe Cross. wow the food was fantastic, never tasted anything as good. Long gone was the carvery so we were told by the landlord (very nice chap) We will definatly eat here again. Fantastic !!

 Terrible service and hostile environment
We went to the Waggon and Horses in Mottram on New Yearís Day 2007 and had a terrible experience. It was so bad that Iím still angry now and that is why Iíve written up my account even a couple years on. First of all, we were told that we would have to wait half an hour to be seated. The four of us then had to wait over an hour before we complained as to why the food was taking so long. When it did arrive, the food was good traditional British pub food but we had waited over 90 minutes. After paying, we merely told the owner he should have been more realistic and more polite about the wait, and he and his son flipped out. They started barging us around and making a huge scene. I thought it was going to be fisticuffs for sure. The guests I were with couldnít believe it: we had a Canadian and a Japanese lady with us. It felt like Fawlty Towers without the comedy.

I love business meetings.

We Visited on Thursday 08/06/2006. lovley pub with nice garden. I was very surprised when the staff refused to serve food in to the pub garden. I had to wait for the food to be brought to a table in the pub and then take it to the garden myself. I asked why and was told company policy. A bit old fashioned in these days dont you think. The food was good and the incidebt did not detract from the evening

 lost its way
Used to go in this pub a lot but in the last couple of years the place is very poor. The prices are to much for the poor beer that is served in this place. Hope one day it will get back to a pub that it used to aspire.

Excellent Pub Quiz On Thursday's 9:00 p.m. Not too difficult or technical but challenging enough for it to be entertaining.

The Pub that inspired the name of The Mighty HoW, or rather was the boozer owned by Pasty's Dad and players thought they might get a free pint

Excellent place to visit. After a nice relaxing walk along the canal and through the country park what a place to call in for refreshments. Excellent food and service. well recomended to all ramblers.

 Fantastic pub
A great friendly pub with wonderful food from a large menu. I am a member of the motorbike club who meet once a week there. There is also a diving and pool club as well as live bands.

The best sunday lunch in the area!

 Comfortable & Friendly
Built in 1835 (originally called the Flowing Bowl) complete with Ghost, The Norman is a lovely, quaint local pub only 1 mile from Staly Vegas. Very friendly Staff & customers & a great atmosphere. Live singers on Saturday night & Quiz & Games on Sunday.
This pub has to be one of the best in Dukinfield.
Well done to the two landladies.

The atmosphere is all right. The quiz night is good (on Tuesdays). The bad thing is that the landlord and landlady play in every game, specially for the money jackpot, and they win many times. NOT ETHICALOR PROFESSIONAL!
They should just be there but not be part of the winnings, since evrything looks suspicious. They have a lot of tickets for the jackpot and probably do not pay for them. Hmmm, isn't that fishy????????
