 Frosty staff and dirty toilets
Went for drink after work. staff wanted to chat rather than serve us. Made to feel that this was a local pub or locals only. toilets were smelly and no loo paper. won't be returning

 Golden Gloves
I've been researching pubs for a few years in Scotland. Within 2/3 weeks I was checking Paisley pubs. I found out that the Golden Gloves has been closed for a long time. It became the Caledonia Bar - but that now has been closed too for a long period. I found that out on the internet, especially the Pubs Galore website. I'll go back to Paisley soon since there are still 2 plus this one to check out. Very interesting hobby :)

 Service poor, food poor
Had visited pub before and enjoyed real ale. Recent visit saw no real ales available, told to wait 20 minutes before could take food orde (when place half empty), then belatedly served very poor quality food. My advice is stay away from Houston Inn.

 Great night out
I am from Glasgow and love a good night out but my brother had his 18th in cafe borgia and it was great we had such a good night and the guy behind the bar gave us a free bottle of cherry sourz cos' we had everyone up dancing and singing. I suppose it's who you go out with not where you go that counts us glasweigens are well known for making the best of a bad situation!!

 best an cheapest by miles
the burgh bar is a great wee pub if u value a beautiful pint for a great price, the staff are friendly and go out their way to make u feel welcome and their entertainment is absolutley brilliant Their restuarant offers the best quality food from a range of indian ur traditional to ur mexican and its for a great price. The managress Julie is fair and has a good feel for what her clientele require, so pop in to the burgh for the best pint in Paisley

 Quite good
A respectable village pub, albeit rather overdone in its recent refurbishment. Good choice of beers, good seating, coal fire, restaurant is pleasant looking with food being average to good.

Notably, however, the Houston Inn is in HOUSTON, not Johnstone as this page would suggest.

 Dont serve food outside
Have had two strange visits to this pub. The most recent July 2008, a cracking sunny day. Ordered food, wanted to eat outside were told they have a new policy to not serve food outside.
No explanation at all. Probably wont be going back again.

When I visited as a cyclist (this is at the end of a cycle route), got the impression cyclists not that welcome. I suspect the cycle parking facilities are left over from a previous owner.

 Brilliant pub
Great prices and deals. Food`s very tasty and value for money. Boss Graeme is friendly and cheery. If I stayed nearby it`d be my local for sure. Clientele are friendly and the choice of Saloon and Lounge gives a variety of atmospheres. Good jukebox and a DJ or Karaoake at the weekends.

 Re: DJ in here
Was in here just before Xmas. Was a little bit quiet. There was a DJ on and have to say selection and quality of music was A1. Not too loud and able to supply karaoke at a nod. Looking to find out who this was, got a birthday coming up and hope to book this guy.

Ric, your spot on, paisley is a total reck these days, cant walk about without watching your back, as for Borgia, ok if you like people who care more about being a big fish in a very small pond than actually going out with friends to enjoy yourself and meet new friends. My advice, pay the extra 10 for Glasgow.

 Paisleys sucks
Couldn't agree more with ric, was in Paisley this pub Borgia last week and couldn't believe the amount of possers there were, when in fact they were just old, out of shape losers, honestly. They all think Being popular in Paisley is a big thing, take them on a train up to Glasgow and they'll be screaming for thier mums n dads..GET to Glasgow for a good night.
Friday, November 10, 2006Rating: No rosettes

Cafe Borgia is ok, but remember folks, it is Paisley after all. If you pay an extra 10, you can head up to Glasgow for some many bigger and better pubs, plus a much better atmsophere. Paisley is full of wannabe pop stars who get a nose bleed at the mear mention of leaving.

 Fantatsic Live Music in Paisley
My girlfriend and I were out in Paisley last night (Monday) and found a brilliant accoustic night. A young guy (think his name is John Rush) just sits and plays some of the best vocals we've heard in a long time. He covered everything from Oasis classics, Beatles and even Gary Barlow (I know that sounds weird and freeky but the guy actually carried it off brilliantly) Worth a visit on a Monday night.

 Best pub in Paisley
My 4 friends are I visited Paisley last weekend, we all live in Shawlands but asked the taxi driver where the best pub in town was, he suggested Cafe Borgia Paisley ? we thought well why not go for one but we had such a great time that we stayed until closing time. The music was great and we danced all nite long. The male talent was pretty hot too, its definately worth a visit, maybe you'll meet the Shawlands girls :-) xxx

 Same Old Place
You would have thought the new owner would go to the bother of cleaning this boggin' place. Was dead the time i was in although this was during the week. At least the toilet has been done up. When it was Connelly's you wouldn't wanna go near the place. But the new people ought to brighten this place up - it looks dark and dirty when it has the potential to be cosy and friendly.

 Gorgeous barmaids & Great music
Just read the latest comment on Borgia and couldn't agree more. We were in 3 weeks ago and had a fantastic night.
The barmaids are trully gorgeous but the customers are pretty fit too, it seems to be 'the' place to go in Paisley.
The crowd is a little older (21+) but that keeps the nuggets out, which only adds to a better night, roll on pay day, we'll be heading back up to Paisley next week.

Best Kept secret in the West of Scotland
September weekend so some of my mates and myself decided to leave the big smoke and head into Paisley for a night out.......and what a night it was !!

The staff in Cafe Borgia are fantatstic a bevvy of 9 beautiful barmaids on the Saturday night we were there, every one of them were stunning.

The pub itself had a really great vibe about it, really friendly and a fun place to be in, sounds cheesy but actually felt like a holiday pub night out.

We will defo be heading back over to Paisley for another nite at Borgia.

Attended party 11th march 2006. We were told to leave and stand outside in the snowstorm that had started 2-3 hours earlier. Staff were very unfriendly and uninterested in our safety. They refused to allow us shelter even though they were still inside. Not a good village pub to visit. We live 10 miles away and waited for over an hour on a taxi. We werent looking for anything other than shelter. Amazingly they treated the Person who had booked the party the same way. A shocking disregard for peoples safety was shown here. Def one too miss.

 Great Pub
Gabriels Pub is my local because, the bar staff are all friendly courteous & pleasant. In the restaurant the food is great, tastey, always piping hot and there is always loads on your plate, the staff always serve you with a warm and friendly smile and a great bit of banter. i always know that if there is one of the big games on i can go there to watch it there and there is never any hassle from anyone. They also serve real ales there too.

 Top boozer
A wonderful little pub. Don't be fooled by the Irish name and expect it to be a Celtic pub, it's populated by St Mirren fans and ageing punk rockers.

It warms the cockles of my heart to see the commendations afforded il chat noir. Living in India at the mo' i miss the happy super sundays spent enjoying a small libation with comrades in arms - AND the many attractive ladies who frequent this tennents delivering establishment. BRAVO!

Great place for food, live music and quiz.
This pub is trying very hard to provide the over 25s with something that little bit better than the run-of-the-mill trendy pubs in Paisley town centre. The staff are extremely friendly and there's loads of room for private parties etc. A seprate function room is available for anyone wanting a more secluded environment for that special occasion. Quizzes on a Monday and an Open Mike night every Tuesday. There's a beer garden too for those summer days!

 Best Talent in Town
We are a group of young ladies who have visited the Black Cat once or twice. I tell you, the talent in here IS second to none. Ladies, when you make your way up the back to visit the very posh facilities, there is always a group of gorgeous, very polite young gentlemen who are just waiting to sweep you off your feet with a bottle of the the Cat's finest chardonnay.

 Tis all good
What can i say that hasn't already been said by the handsome clientele? Many a lazy efternoon spent in the self styled 'best pub in the toon' watching Jeff Stelling and the boys updating us way the scores, getting Wullie Gorman to play cracker songs and looking at Tony Soprano necking his ale. Happy days.

 A bit special
Well what can I say, the place is Reet good. Ye can leave yer fancy shirts and slacks in the hoose there not required here. Greenocks elite can booze in their jeans and T-shirts any night oh the week and there is always something happening frae entertainment tae the occasional scuffle between owe drunken men. One hings fur sure ye will never get bored in the chat noir....
