I did several reliefs at this youngers house 1990-1991....i was manager at the blue anchor on chancery lane for many years before it closed in 1989...terry and wife were the managers at that time.....it was a good pub in those days with excellent food at lunch time......

Have you any history of this pub as I have an autograph book with a kind of Royal Emblem embosed on a page. I wonder wether Royalty of the early 1900s visited your establishment. Doing family tree and would love to know more.

I was born in the old Three Compasses in1936. It was pulled down and re-opened at the outbreak of war in September 1939. My Parents Harry and Vi Woodock were the tenants for just over 40 years. The Brewery was Wm. Younger and the scotch ale used to be sent by barge from Scotland. My Parents were excellent Publicans as were their Parents', and in my Father's case his Grandparents too. My Mother ran the Compasses during the war whilst my Father was overseas serving in the army. She also ran The Blue Anchor in Chancery Lane in the 1950's and 1960's.

 second-rate service
Had previously enjoyed a trip to this pub but my last visit was a serious let-down. Service was very slow and beer kept running out - staff appeared very inexperienced and unable to cope with an only moderately busy evening. And I'd advise food is a definite no-go area: poor quality, compounded by staff doggedly arguing the toss over a minor complaint regarding our meal

Pretty pub ruined by rude landlord
Shame that such a pleasant atmosphere could be ruined by one person, but it was. If you fancy being treated with indifference, arrogance and hostility then come here and make sure the landlord serves you!

 CANADA
If you're looking for a taste of Canada you'll get it! (Canadian Beer, Hockey on TV, typically Canadian Atmosphere). You'll find lots of Canadians throughout the crowd as well but remember.. there's more to us than just Kraft Dinner (as seen on the menu).
