 Terrible
Second time been to slug and lettuce worthing, first time was just for drinks, waited twenty minutes, punted this out to bar staff who's friend just walked in so after apologising to me then still went on to serve his friend, returned today for food, five adults, three children age one,two ,and four, was not offered a children's menu had to wait at bar for over ten minutes to ask for them as one and only waitress had disappeared, ordered basic meals, scampi etc, after 45 minutes still no food was told it was because it was a big order, children's round burnt sausages then turned up burnt with no chips,a cold flat bread instead ,so had to take meals back,by this time had three starving hungry toddlers crying,it was a joke and tried to soften them up with a piece of dried up pepper and pie e of cucumber, walked out of there over a hundred pound lighter ,after having terrible service and cap food, don't go to the worthing branch.

 Cool pub
I was in this pub 20 years ago and if this pub is the same today, i recommend this. At that time (1995) there was so cool piano live-music. It was possible to order a wish. I love the memories at this pub and if i visit London again, i would try to find this pub.

Very poor service at the poole sluglettuce
WE WENT TO THE SLUG LETTUCE AT POOLE DORSET,VERY BAD SERVICE WHEN WE GOT THERE WE WAITED FOR A TABLE FAIR ENOUGH IT WAS ABOUT 10MINUTES,ORDERED OUR MEAL ,MY HUSBAND ORDERED RIBEYE,TOLD ABOUT 10MINUTES AFTERWARDS,NO RIBEYE SO MY HUSBAND HAD RUMP,STEAK,I LOOKED AT MY WATCH IT WAS NOW NEARLY 8.15 NO MEAL YET,WHEN IT EVENTUALLY CAME I ORDERED SMOOTHERED CHICKEN PEAS WERE COLD AND CHIPS, WHEN OUR BILL CAME,THEY HAD CHARGED US FOR RIBEYE ,AND WE HAD RUMP STEAK AS WE WERE TOLD NO RIBEYE,I THINK THIS IS DISGUSTING,THE TIME WE HAD TO WAIT,OTHER PLACES WE HAVE BEEN IF THEY ARE BUSY THEY TELL YOU HOW LONG YOU MIGHT HAVE TO WAIT,OR THERE IS A NOTICE SAYING THERE IS A WAITING TIME,SO YOU HAVE A CHOICE TO WAIT OR LEAVE I SAID THIS TO THE WAITRESS,SHE NEVER SAID SORRY FOR THE WAIT,OR WE FEEL THEY SHOULD HAVE COME OUT AND SAID SORRY FOR THE WAIT,,WE THINK THIS IS VERY BAD ONE FOR THE WAIT,AND BEING OVERCHARGED,IT WAS A GOOD JOB WE ALWAYS CHECK THE BILL,,I DONT THINK WE WILL BE GOING BK,ALSO WE WILL LET OUR FRIENDS KNOW ,HOPE WE WILL HEAR BACK FROM THIS .

 Another eulogy
I loved this pub. An Aussie, I lived in Gloucester Terrace and this was my local pub in 1975 / 1976 . Wonderful memories of all the drinkers and staff there. When it closed at 11 pm we'd stagger to the Walkabout Club around the corner in Craven Terrace. Vale ! White Hart

 Awful food
Owing to the very poor service that I received at the Slug & Lettuce Chichester, I wish to air my complaints, I as unhappy with a waitress attitude (Keshirce,) and also the quality of food.I was horrified to be told by the under manager that Keshirce, informed him I complained every week! I've been to the slug & Lettuce twice this year in Chichester and never ever complained about anything. She then came across and said she mistook me for somebody else ! I will be writing to head office for a letter of apology from that young lady!

 Poor service at Slug Durham
I visited the slug on Saturday night on an outing with my girlfriends sadly it took over 30 mins to be served as the staff were completely unorganised and lacked basic common sense, sadly I rang to speak to a manager today about it and sadly I feel my dissapointement has fallen on deaf ears and the managers comments matched his staffs actions, limited inteligence and no common sense! I had to point out that he should be checking cctv to see how HIS staff organise themselves and when he tried to excuse this lack of organisation because of the amount of people that come in on a saturday night! Not good enough bishops mill does not have this problem neither does loveshak, there are clearly some staffing issues and im far from satisfied with this apparent managers response

I have been working in the Slug for a few months now and have to say the previous comment does not sound right. It takes more than a week to prove yourself to the company which is what I feel I have achieved. With both previous and new management I have been treated with respect and talked to like adult. It is a lot of fun working there but we all know when to get on with work. We all work very hard and enjoy doing it. Hope to be working here for a long time :D

I worked in the Poole slug and lettuce for one week and have never had such a job with a bad atmosphere for working in, where the management seems to be run on a biased friend based system. The bar is the worst performing in the south and you can see why from being on the inside, in my short time there 4 staff left and the others seemed very unhappy in there jobs, I was talked down to and made to feel like an idiot in front of customers by someone ten years my junior......I would never drink or go to that particular branch ever again. There needs to be a big overhaul if they want to start to progress in the industry. I have never had a problem with anyone i worked with before in my life but there seemed to be run by in house politics and if you are not in the click then you are treated and talked to badly...

 very dissapointed
We visited the Slug & Lettuce for lunch on Deansgate M/C. The waitress had long untied hair flowing down over her face. She scooped waste from the table onto the floor and left it there. Waited ages for the bill, not good enough for Deansgate !

 Filthy floor
My husband and I were on our way to the Cathedral in Chichester and decided to call in to the Slug and Lettuce in the town at 6.30 p.m. To say that the floor was filthy is putting it mildly. We walked straight back out as did another couple. It looked disgraceful and we will certainly never go there again.

I and some fellow Aussies worked here in the sixties, just loved it, a local run by Mr and Mrs mallman (sp?) We all flatted just up the Mews. Revisited in 2003 I think and sad to see it boarded up. A very special place, no pokies stupid music or loud noise, just the locals enjoying a pint and chatting up the barmaids. Oh well, time passes and we grow old. Cheers to all of you who loved it.

 menu item
I often eat at the Colchester Slug.
On my last visit I ordered chickpea and aubergine curry. The chickpeas had been substituted for yellow split peas. If you change the recipe, could you please change the menu with a sticker.
Usually I am really happy with the Colchester Slug as all the waitresses are friendly and effecient. The waitressess ask forbe adapted for me, being a Vegan, which is brilliant. They have struggled recently as the present cook gets muddled and sends out the wrong food for which the girls have to apologise and take the flack.I will continue to go and hope the cook learns to do his job properly.

 Best place after work!!
A cool little pub for a quiet drink and relax after work!! If you feel like food they have a good menu to choose from and cater to all tastes. Once a month they have a quiz night with one of the locals being the MC. The regulars are all really friendly and offer a great atmosphere to those willing. But overall it's a nice pub to just chill with friends wether it be with beer or one of the many wines and spirits they offer!!

 The White Hart
I was just googling the White Hart as I lived and worked there as an 18 year old in 1980. I make my first trip to London in 20 years this weekend and was planning to pop in for a pint and show the current management photos taken in there 28 years ago. Very disappointed to hear it's now closed down!

Great 'Proper' Pub with good beer and service
I went to this great 'proper' pub after attending a business meeting nearby on Great Portland Street. It's near the underground station for Gt Portland St and when I popped in for a pint I stayed for 5 because the beer was great, the food (Thai) exceptional and the staff, including a very helpful and genuinely decent landlord / owner were very courteous and efficient.
I'll DEFINTELY be going back to this pub and I won't need business to take me there.
Check it out.
It's great.

 A walk in the past
The first time I strolled in Earl from Australia was behind the bar. As an American Lacrosse Coach the pub recame a sort of home for me. A mid-afternoon pint, a little computer golf and an evening finisher. While Earl moved on the place welcomed this want-a-be englishman for four New Years parties ('98,99,'00, '01). I hope to return next year for an extented stay (year or five) and find the same friendly pub I enjoyed.

 Gone but not forgotten
This is more an elegy than a review. The White Hart was my local when I lived and studied in London in 1983; my flat window looked out over the Hart six floors below. I was an American student living in London for a semester and the White Hart was my first and favorite pub. Compared to others around London, it would never be considered a great or outstanding pub, but it was home to me and my friends. Drinks, games of pool, laughs and stories.

I returned to Brook Mews in December 2005 to find the White Hart boarded up and closed.

Maybe no one else will post anything on this pub, but it will be missed and remembered.

 A sentimental favorite
You get a comfortable feeling just walking through the door. We loved it so much that I proposed to my now wife in one of the booths at midnight on New Years Eve. I was told it has now closed. Any truth to the rumor? We are Don and Connie from California, USA.

 A wonderful retreat.
The Grosvoenors arms is a wonderful retreat from the hussle and bustle of London. It's an oasis of normality in an area which is famous for high prices and high living, a place of good prices and a chance to catch up with yourself. The beer is well kept and very reasonably priced as is the food.
I'd recommend it as the atmosphere of the pub is very welcoming and relaxing.

 Grosvenor Arms Mayfair
It's a wonderful little pub, and the room upstairs is available for functoins at no extra cost providing you are eating and drinking. The atmosphere in the main bar is a traditional pub atmosphere, and the staff are friendly and helpful. No children are allowed in the pub but that can only be a good thing right? You can always find people willing to chat, and have a good conversation with you. I've adopted it as a local though I live in Hampstead!

 Another Great Pub Demolished
George & May - friends of the Krays - ran this excellent pub for around 45 years. Upstairs (street level) bar run by Mike was a cross section of China Town, Theatreland and Soho. Downstairs was home to world famous Dive Bar run by Terry (RIP) a mixed crowd of gay, straight & undisclosed. Rammed during the weeknds, only slightly less so during the week. Another sad loss to the world of real drinkers.
