Huge space, full of football fans and quite grotty.

 pukka pub
friendly relaxed atmosphere. Allows children until 8 oclock. Dont let the fact that it is on an estate put you off a visit. Never no trouble in this pub. Lovely landlord. Bottles of free bubbly on your birthday. Karaoke on Saturdays, Pool room out back. Garden needs sorting out and swings put back in for the kids in the Summer as this is what pulls in the families. Other than that its a good place to unwind and have a drink.

 My HONEST opinion
Try going in when sober Ryan, Never has any beer, full of drugs and druggies, if you like homophobia this is the place for you. to end an evening of bad drink mixed with a clicky atmosphere you get thrown out rudely by the agressive staff.

 History
My great-grandfather worked in this pub back in 1869. He stated on his marriage cert in 1869 that this pub was his place of residence and his occupation was Barman. Anyone have any photos available of the pub that I could add to my family history? Any history on the pub would be greatly appreciated

 Quiz night and Tapas
I have been going to the quiz night at the vanbrugh for the last five weeks. Well played to the vanbrugh team they have turned what could be a boring night into a really fun night out with a tapas menu to die for.It makes a good start to the week.
PS I find the langtree comments hard to believe as we were in there on the 16th and had a great meal and i don't recall seabass being on the menu.

great local, refurbed, pizza, organic wines
Just found the gowlett. What a treasure tucked away down a backstreet at the East Dulwich end of Peckham. Organic Wines, real ales, amazing stone baked pizzas and a pool table. There was a DJ playing chilled out stuff on sunday. Staff very friendly even if one or 2 of them didn't understand me!! Free papers at the weekend. Quiz nite on Mondays and Pool competition on Tuesdays. Already hooked!!

 The Ship good beer
This pub is warm and friendly and has a n excellent choice of beer. The ESB, London Pride, Chiswick is well served and most enjoybale. In addition bottled 1845 and Golden Prie make for an excellent tipple. The food is good pub with special mention of the sandwiches and pies. A good local pub - with Fuller's beers!!

 Nice local
It's a nice local pub. It's an attractive building with a fairly stylish interior, certainly not the tobacco-tanned old man's boozer that frequent these parts. There's a relaxing atmosphere, and the food is suprisingly good. I enjoy going there on a Friday night to wind down after the week, and on a Sunday munchtime for a beef or lamb roast whilst reading the papers. There's a quiz night (not for me) and a fair sized function room upstairs.

 Best Gastro Pub in years
Best Gastro Pub I've been to in years, amazing atmosphere. Fantastic Pub with real charm and character, newly taken over by 3 very keen investors that have all ready turned the Pub around with some great new decor, new extensive Wine List, Cocktails and of course traditional ales and beers from around the world. Top class punters very friendly, Girls were easy on the eye! a must if you are in the area, although worth travelling especially if youre like me and like top notch grub a cut above your usual Gastro Pub.

 Not happy
Dear Sirs.

I feel compelled to relay my experience at The Anchor Tap in London SE1.

While buying the first round of drinks for work colleagues, the bar tender was inexplicably rude to me. Not knowing him and totally confused I said I asked what I had done. His answer was that all South Africans (? I'm English) are rude and how he is not a dog I should have said please.......! I should add I was polite as I was with colleagues who have recently moved into the building opposite their entrance. Needless to say I won't return and would not recommend it to tourists or anyone for that matter.

Regards,
Brent.

 Good food
I've been eating for the past year in the pub next door to the Stamford Arms - The Hogs Head - and very nice it was too....

The worst eating experience I've had.....
I experienced the most surly and rude staff and the lowest value for money food in a pub in London. After deciding to give it another go (I've been eating in the pub next door - The Hogs Head, for a year) I regretted it immediately and realised why I don't go in there anymore! Terrible!
