Really needs a re-vamp stuck in the past which is a shame as the building is 16th century and has a lot of llocal history

They closed for refurbishments for 6 weeks and what was done? Tarting up only (not all good, e,g black ceilings and lighting installations that leave much to be desired) and they totally ignored really basic requirements.
All old radiators remain inadequately in place meaning the customers face another 2015/16 winter in a freezing greenhouse. No sun shading/blinding has been installed over the extensive windows either. That means bake all ye who enter there in the coming summers. And my biggest disappointment.... the toilets were not totally ripped out and redesigned! Still yuck.
Nice decor in the back area though (in place of the much-loved Pizza Oven).
I used to be a regular........... oh hum!

Thank you very much for the lovely meal and hospitality shown to us on the 10th May - it was a lovely spread, and people are still talking about it; you put so much effort in to make a sad event into a lovely family affair. We would recommend you highly: once again thank you all

 Bleak House
Used to be a great free music venue, heaving and rocking seven nights a week in the 80s & 90s - now deserted and totally depressing.

 Beautiful interior
This pub has a beautiful interior.
The staff are exceptionally nice and this family run business is a little gem. Well worth a visit for an evenings entertainment. They also have really good live music at weekends.

 A nice local
The pub is a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of the Angel area. Average prices but great views for watching sport on 2 large screen TVs. Entertainment is provided Fri-Sun with mainstream music artists and karaoke once a fortnight. Thai cuisine is served most of the day and evenings. There is a dartboard but no pool table. The pub seves a nice pint of Guiness and has an outdoor area too. A nice improvement would be some free bar food for the punters watching the footie on Sundays.

 Good beer
Im new to the UK and was in Muswell hill to dig up some old family history. Dropped into this pub for some lunch and a pint. Better beer selection than most pubs in my Bayswater area. Food was good, too. Great staff. Did I mention they have good beer?

Mrs Limon
Now called the Charles Lamb Pub
Taken over by new owners in October 2005. Now serving British/french food on a daily changing blackboard menu with a great selection of beers including three real ales, leffe, fullers organic honey dew, konig ludwig weiss beer, heineken and amstell. No ciders on draught however liter bottles of breton cider at £6. Over 30 wines by the bottle and 10 by the glass makes this a great place to catch up with friends away from the main pubs on upper street and essex road. Not really gastro ... more a local with good food and wine!

 not bad not cheap
This pub had been in serious decline until it was revamped as a gastro pub. The no child policy is popular but in thesummer the outside areas are popular with push-chair parents for Sunday lunch. The pub has, in the gastro pub tradition, got rid of the telly, so no footie! This tends to make it a bit too middle class for my tastes and the drinks and food are about as expensive as you'll get. Nevertheless, it has settled into a fairly sociable place with hardworking, friendly staff.

 Real Ale in Tottenham Shocker!
A bit rough round the edges, this is one of the few pubs in Tottenham to serve real ale - an ever-changing guest ale from Archers Brewery. Smoky, but incredibly lively, one of the few Tottenham pubs worth leaving home for!

Absolutely amazing bar i think its great they have a no children policy. I dont think kids should be exposed to such an environment. Fantastic staff too, especially mark (assistant manager), so good looking and funny, shame hes engaged, or i would be all over him like a rash.

 Lovely pub
My Grandmother, Iris, used to run this pub and it was one of the most welcoming places in London. The locals were always glad to see new faces as well as old. A real friendl east end welcome. It made growing up a real pleasure. It deserves to be used. A beautiful building with loads of atmousphere

 NOT family friendly
Avoid this place if you have children. I popped in here with my wife and little boy on a cold winter day for a quick drink while waiting for someone to pick us up. We were told that the pub does not have a licence for children so not only could we not drink there, we had to leave. They basically threw out a 3-year old on the coldest day of the winter. I wouldn't drink there again if it was the only pub in London

 Quality of staff
I have always found the major sellig point of the Shakespeare to be the attitude and banter of the staff. Whether drinking youself into oblivion or just not being bothered to leave, the staff will always treat you with the same mix of semi-sarcastic but totally loving care. Full marks to Callum for seeing me through many a grey afternoon. and also to Toby for single handedly managing all our lives. I understand it's all change at The Shaky now. How we will all miss Ken's devotion to his work and sunny disposition, no matter what the circumstances. A warm welcome to the new manager and staff ! Careful in the cellar.

 Poor, poor, poor...
How this place still has a licence let alone any customers Iíll never know.
Warm flat beer, cold food and all this topped off with an obnoxious rude landlord. This was a thoroughly disappointing experience. Youíve been warned!!!

 O'neills nightmare
It could be a great pub but the staff are rude and pushy making a quiet drink impossible. Despite being well over the drinking age they constantly harrass even a loyal regualr like me for ID and don't think a driving licence is suffice for these lot either!
