Stephen Campbell was sacked from the Bell Inn Ruislip for stealing money.
And also BeBopaLula at the Monarch on Green Lanes.
Plus the Somerset in Gravesend.

You need to look into this bad manager!

 Black horse pub Nine ashes
It's not a public house anymore and has not been for over 18 years because no one used it.

 Excellent pub in every way
Called in for the Sunday roast. It was excellent - freshly cooked (none of that reheated vegetables that you get in so many pubs). It was tasty and there was plenty of it. The cask ales were delicious and well kept and the hosts welcomed us warmly - as did the lovely log fire.

 Brilliant place
Some of these descriptions are just ridiculous. why would someone go mad at someone for asking for ice? i work in Frankies, and to be honest i find it funny how you can sit there and say how the owner is rude, she is a professional, hard working woman, who clearly is doing a good job as the bar has been in business over 10 years. I love working in Frankies, its fun and the service is always of a high standard and done quickly. None of the bar staff are rude. Lovely little wine bar!

Like the previous poster
I Had a similar run in with this woman.
My girlfriend asked for some more ice.
not only did she go mental on her
she flipped and started shouting at me.
And i hadn't had a very nice day at work and was feeling tired i just burst into tears
i will never ever go back she is a bully.

A lot more welcoming venues around!
Live locally to this venue & have had many good nights there. A friend of mine had experienced the surly female owner & vowed never to return, but i hadn't until last night. My girlfriend & i had been enjoying the football & decided to continue the celebrations at Frankies, it was slightly late about 11.50 but upon entering the bar which was in full swing the barmaid & owner glared at us & told us in no uncertain terms that the bar was shut. Fair enough but we thought we would stay & have a couple of dances, well this must have incurred the wrath of our not so friendly 'host' who upon spotting us literally climbed over the bar & told us to leave . We had to walk out through a mass of people as though we were naughty schoolchildren! Quite humiliating, therefore i will not give her another penny of my hard earned cash & will find a different venue in future where my custom is appreciated. Frank-ly no thank you!

 Cold food
We went to the Village on a Sunday and before we ordered we got told several items on the menu were unavailable and the menu was different to what we saw in the webpage. We struggled to find something we all like and then 2 meals came up cold.

 Abit of a love fess!
Annie - have searched all over, whatever, wherever - and this is the first one I can type h0w - whoops - I feel.

Lovely lady - I just know why I do this simple but difficult job. Would take you anywhere: honest!

Ratting around for work in the mean time - but would so much love to stay in touch. Honest. You are now an icon, whether you like it or not. S0 love and appreciate you,

Deb Flower - that sort of loopy girl that was really trying to be serious. Please tell me I was successful.

Kisses - and if my brother in law is stuck for crew - he would love to have you on board.

You gorgeous lady - lord knows what channels this email is going through - but love you all the more for being so - you know - wherever. xxxx. Suddenly realise this might be slighlty more open than I intended - but, hey, if it means we stay in touch ... hopefully, and forgive me the bizzare routing. Goggle is just a bit rubbish when it comes to immediate, lovely, staying in touch.

I second that this is the best pub in Stansted!
My other half and I love this pub! We are a youngish couple (28 and 32) who have lived in Stansted for 3 years and came across the Rose and Crown last summer whilst out biking. It’s in a great spot and I agree with Michael Procter‘s wife, the house white is really good – it’s lovely and crisp and (unlike many other places) never tastes like it’s come out of a bottle that’s been open and sitting in the fridge for a few days. I don’t know what ‘who ha’ has gone on but if it’s a choice between the quaint Rose and Crown, whose landlord and lady have always been lovely to us, or the other pubs in the village which are either filled with the local druggie ‘youf’ or the disillusioned wannabe X-factor contestants murdering Elvis and Gloria Gaynor on the karaoke machine, well there’s no contest. …..Thank goodness we found this place and no longer have to get the train elsewhere to find somewhere decent to have a nice quiet drink!

 The Best Pub in Stansted!
As somebody who has lived in Stansted for over 10 years I would like to recommend it very highly. First of all, it's a Free House - with a good selection of beers, a very friendly new Landlord and Landlady, in a charming location with a great beer garden. The food I have not tried yet but it appears to be the only pub in Stansted which serves a house white wine that my wife actually approves of. This pub has always been well located in the village - but from my reckoning, it has vastly improved since it has come under new management.

I understand that there are plans for live music and other events, something which has been missing from Stansted since the Three Colts closed down a few years ago.

I am very perplexed by some of the negative comments below - some from people who seem to wish to remain anonymous - or haven't even visted the pub. Do they fear some kind of libel action?

This is he best pub I have been t o in years.
Stumbled across this pub by chance, a friend & I decided to try somewhere different. I was immediately struck by how friendly both the staff & customers are. The beer is very good too, very well kept & a number of local breweries supported. Went back the follow wing day to sample the food, it was fantastic, the chips were the best I've ever tasted & the steak was very fine quality. We ended up staying all day; my friend had a second meal in the evening!
I can't believe some of the negative reviews, one was submitted by a guy who's never even been to the pub, and surely it is this sort of thing that destroys the internets credibility. I think friendly village pubs like this should be cherished; all too often they shut down or are bought up by soulless breweries & turned into clone pubs. The Rose & Crown is unique, it has a lovely atmosphere, great bear, fantastic food & is run by the friendliest people I have ever been served by in a pub, Try it out, you won't be disappointed.

Having read the note casting doubt on the Rose and Crown I felt I should respond. The new landlord and landlady (Chris and Chris) have turned this pub around - the food is excellent as is the wide choice of real ales. On arriving you are offered a sample of the real ales so you can choose. The atmosphere is friendly and all are welcome - felt like being in my own living room.

Spontaneous visit to this site again, honest!
There are two phone numbers on the front banner. Have you tried these numbers? I reckon the pub needs to be demolished myself, so I forget any big ideas for these premises, unless you're loaded.
I too though would like to see something done with it, because it does bring the area down.

This is a pub in the old traditions. Not as it's quant or decorated in an old fashioned way, it's more describing the atmosphere. It's a place where people meet and friendships are formed. Like all good pubs used to be like.

It seems that on 11th October 6 people all decided to submit extememy positive reviews of the pub (with 2 more on the 15th), after a long series of only negative comments. This seems to be an obviously orchestrated campaign, and as such these reviews are best ignored. I've never been to the pub, and was using the site to find somewhere to eat and drink in the area, and this kind of thing destroys the credibility of reviews.

 Utterly delightful
What a lot of old tosh written by some of the posters down below. I've been a bitter fanatic for the best part of 30 years. It's a delight to find a (rare) establishment that not only actively supports local breweries, with fresh new real ales every week, but knows how to look after them too. A real delight - well done to the new management. PS: the food is excellent too!

Please everyone can we let this end .It makes us very sad that after 21 years in a Pub we built up to be a friendly family local this should happen. When we retired in 2006 John and I were made very welcome by Barbara and Richard. When Chris and Christine took over they likewise made us welcome. Then in 3 weeks things changed.I feel they did not go about it the right way,but you learn by your mistakes.John and I now have good friends still in the R&C and good friends not welcome. We never thought this would happen in a million years. Please everyone ,life is to short for unpleasantness .Call it a day.Last orders and time please Ladies and Gentlemen

Young local woman
I strongly feel that the Rose and Crown is still the best pub in the village. Its is so refreshing to have people running the pub with such good people skills, one of the plus points being that they can talk behind the bar without slurring!!! As a young family and as a couple,we have been going to the pub for many years and this isnt about to change. Its such a shame that the odd few sad individuals take pleasure from downmouthing people just because their feathers have been ruffled - big deal! It is people like you (the bad apples in the cart) that our society could do without. You obviously are so set in your ways that you cannot adapt to change but at least give people the opportunity to prove themselves.
For the record, I feel the chris' are doing an excellent job, they are friendly, inviting and accommodating, we love it! To all the moaners, swallow your pride and stop throwing your teddy bears out of their prams!!!!

Pub lover
 what the?
I don't understand the negative comments put on this website. Everytime recently I have visited the R&C, I have been made to feel welcome and valued as a customer. I had previously visited the pub before 9 months ago and whilst I was welcomed by the staff, the atmosphere was uncomfortble and I felt I was intruding on a family gathering. Not sure what the weather has got to do with anytihing, but seeing as the atmosphere is warm and friendly, it will be a nice place to go in the bleak mid-winter.

 How comical
clearly those who don't like change, bigoted and no longer dictate and get their own way now sit at home writing derogitory comments and expect people not to see that it is the same sad acts making the same comments. The proof of the pudding is in the eating good food good beer Great service what a lovely pub with friendly atmosphe, and to you bigots..just grow up!

Unceremoniously Slung Out
 The Real Truth
Witness to the Truth tells anything but. The facts are that these 'rather unpleasant locals' rubbed along happily with previous licensees for some twenty years and were a core part of the trade. Other local hostelries have welcomed them with open arms and are revelling in their new-found trade. Hope you've enjoyed your Indian summer but let's see how it all looks in the bleak midwinter. PS Please note correct use of apostrophe.
Saturday, October 3, 2009Rating: No rosettes

Witness To The Truth
 Ignore The Comments
Take a look at the negative comments, and how they have all appeared in a short space of time. Now ignore them, for they are left by some rather 'unpleasant' locals who do not know how to behave. Thus they were barred before they drove away all the trade for good.

The Rose & Crown is a fine village pub supporting local products and the local community, and it's new management is doing everything just fine. And the beers - mostly local are better than ever.
Wednesday, September 30, 2009Rating: rosettes

Am rather thrown by the last comment. As someone who regularly ate in this pub under the previous ownership I can only say how disappointed I have been with the food I have had since the new owners took over - very disappointed with a recent roast dinner in there. Why the change in standards I am unsure - perhaps different suppliers are being used or maybe even the best team need a good manager to thrive. Sadly lacking I think.

 Happy memories
I used the R&C for 17 years when I lived in Stansted. Without exception everyone who visited there said how friendly it was. This was down to the landlady who seemed to know everyone's name and how to make them welcome. This is crucial in a pub with no or little passing trade.
Alas I hear the new landlord is breaking all these rules and I suspect when he has driven away all his regulars, someone will take over and restore some happy memories in the best pub in the world.

 Abysmal way to treat customers
Last week I spoke to the landlady here who agreed to accept a coach party of rugby people on the way home from a game at North Walsham. She knew who we were and that we were about 60 strong.

As agreed, i phoned her when we we on our way - about 1.5 hours away - and she told me that her husband - the co landlord - didn't want us.

It is their prerogative to turn away custom. But having no honour in how to treat customers is unforgivable.

I suggest they speak to the Angel at Larling and ask how well behaved we were not to mention the £400 we spent with them!

Bentfield Gardens Drinker
An ardent bitter drinker forced to drink crappy Carlsberg cold in the 2 visits I made under the new management. I wont be going back. I've heard the landlady limits any punter to 2 alcoholic drinks then decides they are drunk then decides to ban them. Stansted thankfully has lots of friendly watering holes willing to replace this shambles that once was a decent boozer
Thursday, September 3, 2009Rating: No rosettes

Well, what can i say, the R and C WAS probably the best local in the area, always friendly with a great atmosphere but sadly no longer. Bank holiday Monday my elderly mother and aunt visited the pub for lunch, the place was very quiet so assumed they wouldn't have a long wait. After waiting 20 mins for a menu they ordered 2 x ham, egg and chips (hardly a culinary delight). For this they waited a further 1hr 40mins! there was no explanation or apology. they did of course complain but this fell on deaf ears!!!!!!!!!
they will not be visiting what was once a lovely local and it seems from other messages left on this site they will not be the only ones.

If it ain't broke don't fix it
Surprised at the comment that the new management are striving to make the best of this pub as this had already been done by their predecessors!

‘Amazing welcome, friendly service, beers changing regularly and all local local local’ It was all there. Perhaps one of the locals could enlighten me as to where the Guinness and Carlsberg breweries are around the Stansted area.

The demise of a Local Pub
Once the centre of Wetherfield / Bentfield End community, now drastically changed by the new landlords who want to make it into a family Coffee Bar and not a pub for beer drinkers!. They have driven away most of the regulars who are local people and who frequent the pub all year round, not just in the summer months when families turn up for the occasional meal. I have to say that the other landlords in the village are very pleased by their actions having benefited greatly by the migration of the locals. Long live the R&C, we will be back!

 Sad to hear
I worked in this pub for a time and enjoyed pretty much every minute of it.

Disappointing service, lack of atmosphere.

 Day light robbery
We spent New Year’s Eve 2008/09 at the Bull inn Hockley, ticket price for a four course meal and disco £40 per head. The whole meal experience was very disappointing starter consisting pieces of chicken and bacon which were very dry and obviously not fresh on a bed of rocket, main meal vegetables that had been cooked hours before that were either under or over cooked and reheated served in a layer of melted grease, followed by coffee cheesecake consisting of a pkt of angel delight on broken biscuits. Without joke the best part of the meal was the coffee at the end, I heard comments buy one of the waiters that orders were down and staff were concerned for their future, serving un appetising muck at an extortionate price will not bring back customers throughout the year. I can only conclude by saying that if you are looking for restaurants in Hockley give this establishment a wide berth.

What a welcome change nowadays to have a smile behind the bar & please & thank you. Many a licensee would do well to look in & see how it,s done.I spend most of my working life day & night in pubs & bars & believe me this is how it should be.A great bar with great friendly people.
Well done..
Monday, November 24, 2008Rating: rosettes

Dave, considering I know the owner I can safely tell you that they wouldn't spend their time gushing about Frankie's cause they know they don't have to. The bar does more then well enough and they don't have to convince people to come back cause they do without convincing, they know what a quality bar it is. And to be honest why go to a bar in Romford where it's full of drunk teens when you can go to a place with a lively atmosphere that never has trouble? If you didn't have a goo time fair enough don't go back but please don't insult the people who work there and the owner by suggesting they even need to be fake about Frankie's and the kind of place it is.

 A true olde English pub
Brasses and beams feature heavily in this lovely 600 year old buliding. Fantastic pints of Brewers Gold from Crouch Vale. Websters wallop for £2.50 a pint is a bargain. There is always a guest beer on the end of the bar as well. Usually a Nethergate. The extensive food menu has some real gems on it and most is freshly prepared every day. The garden could do with some investment but has great views of the church and surrounding fields. The pub dog Dyson is also very friendly, although this is usually when you have a bag of chrisps in your hand.

 What a disappointment!
What a disappointment! I use to drink in this pub over 40 years ago and it now desperately needs refurbishing – I noticed two broken windows on my visit. Gone is the beer garden at the rear. The only outside seating is now at the front of the pub by the roadside. They have stopped serving food and there is no real ale, so I will not be going back.

 change in atmosphere
After hearing about the terrace having a face lift i thought it only polite to visit and see if a place with mixed reviews could have raised its standards. I visited with 3 friends who had been there before and had an average at best experience.
Welthings have certainly changed. The modern decor and ambience was superb, the staff are the same with a few adjustments but their attitudes and proffessioal attitude had changed dramatically, they were all very helpful and full of smiles. Maybe the change in surroundings had made a grand difference to all involved. I would certainly recommend the now named Vilage bar and Grill to anyone. I will certainly visit again and take more friends there who had bad experiences before to prove a leopard really can change its spots.

Four words for you – do not go here!!!
I (stupidly) chose the Terrace Bar as a celebratory venue for my boyfriends 30th Birthday along with 15 friends – what a disaster from start to finish! To begin, the balloons & banners I had left with them earlier in the day were not even up, then, after waiting 2 hours before our main courses finally arrived, some of us had finished our meal before other meals hadn’t even arrived. After some tears and disputes with the management, we retrieved the birthday cake back from them and left without bothering with desert. All this and I havent even started on the awful service and crap overpriced food! This place is an absolute shambles and should be shut down. And yes, I am still waiting for the complementary vouchers we were promised! Certainly NO rosettes given here!

Not a member of staff or a manager, just a regular guy. Not a gushing fake comment either. Not asking people to come back either. Just a comment that is what this is for. Bad experience then. Thats ok we all have them! I dont go in of a friday or saturday, i like the quiet life.

 Interesting comments
As interesting as it is to read the owner or possibly the staff of a winebar write such gushing obviously fake reviews, my advice is to spend their time going on a customer service course if they really want people to come back. Until that happens I suggest people go to Romford

I go to Frankies, but could never understand why it didn't open during the day. Well to my suprise, they now do and they are doing food. I popped in, they had only been open for a week, had a bite to eat, it was great and cooked fresh, no packet stuff. Going to go back.

 Rubbish With a Capital R
Where to start? The misleading promise of kids eating free, the lack of any beer except overpriced bottles of lager or the total paucity of friendly staff. Upon perusal of the cheap tatty menus our party decided to have starters. These were promptly delivered and on the whole enjoyable. What followed was a mish mash of expensive, badly cooked pretentious garbage. My wife and I had Braised shank of lamb served on a bed of mash - an insipid dollop of school dinnerish mashed potatoes with a garlicky tomato sauce and what I believe were Lidl frozen lamb shanks from a particularly old piece of mutton. My brother in law went for a tasty Morrocan lamb stew - overcooked, watery risotto rice and peas with several pieces of scrag end of lamb (complete with tendons, connective tissue and several metres of vascular tubing still attached) in a garlicky tomato sauce. Two burgers for the younger members of the party - had better in Wimpey. A piece of steak (a rather broad term) that should have been cremated during the Foot and Mouth crisis for my eldest daughter. A pot noodle in a garish bowl for her boyfriend and finally a bit of Mallard, possibly found floating in a local pond for my sister in law completed the extortionate piece of culinary piracy. The desserts were average, though again overpriced, so only three were ordered by our party. A total bill of £245 was greeted with incredulity and after close scrutiny the £22 service charge was challenged and then removed. On the whole I would not recommend this establishment to anybody who enjoys good food in a comfortable environment. To the Management, some advice - Call Channel 4 and get Gordon Ramsay to visit, for the next series of Kitchen Nightmares

 i loved it
went to the terace last weekend (saturday) it was very busy and lively, the four of us all enjoyed our food, especially the starters.
The menu was varied and there were lots of exciting choices, although the vegerarian choices were limited, we are not vegetarian but it was still noticable. the service and atmosphere were good but a little noisy

 atmosphere brilliant
I went to Frankies for the first time last week and had a brilliant time! the music is great with a mixture of motown, soul, and up to date stuff. The staff were so polite and friendly and looked like they were having a great time themselves, service was quick too. I would definately recommend this place to everyone. The drinks arent over priced for a wine bar, if you want cheap drinks, go to a whetherspoons spit and sawdust pub. i didnt see the woman that owns it but i did see a guy with long hair, so perhaps the other reader is right... she doesnt suffer tolerate fools!

 Friendly & Fun!
I have just visited The Terrace Bar & Grill in Hornchurch last weekend. I went there with friends, a party of seven in total .
We were greeted and allowed to sit at the bar area on sofas where we were able to enjoy a pre dinner drink, relax and look through a lengthy menu full of interesting dishes, alongside a specials board .
We ordered at the sofas and were called to our table when the food was ready. It was a friday evening and there was a live band (duo) playing background music which added to the already friendly atmosphere.
Our food was delicious, well presented & the service was well pased , friendly & professional.
We were allowed to keep our table all evening allowing us all to converse & enjoy the entertainment.
We all enjoyed the evening and I would recommend that you try this gem of a restaurant out for yourselves.

Not up to scratch , very disappointing
I came here a few weeks ago with a large group of friends to celebrate a special occasion.
Out of 12 of us, 4 of us had a our meals returned. 2 hot meals were actually cold, one was burnt and the other one had very little on the plate. The service was very slow and it took 30 mins to order drinks and over an hour for food.
Although the Manager was polite and agreed it was not up to their usual standard she agreed to offer a few bottles of wine On the house. Perhaps a case of a few more staff on board will help alleviate the problem and for the Kitchen Staff to pay more attention to detail. I would not come back again, V disappointed.

 Excellent service
We have just had the most marvelous weekend down at The Quays. The themed weekend provided lots of entertainment for the children and adults alike and despite the pub being full to the brim the food and service was excellent. The team are obviously well trained to a high standard something quite a rareity these days with nothing being too much trouble (and with a smile!!) and the facilities clean and well managed. Well done to all concerned it is a credit to you all.

Generally this place is too expensive and the food is not good enough quality for the price. It is generally dissapointing as the restaurant looks quite nice. Fortunately there are more and more decent restaurants opening in the local area so this place will either improve or go out of business.

Ok if you like narrow minded.
I went to Frankies on a couple of occassions despite the small size and the slightly higher prices than others nearby. However I stopped after the owner accosted me for having long hair. Which apparently constituted a health hazard when it touched the bar when I leant against it. The woman was extremely rude and now I tell everyone not to go.

Don't take children to The Terrace!
Just tried to reserve a table for my Daughters 12th Birthday at The Terrace. I wanted a table for 6pm for 10 children and was told that they do not allow children's parties due to the noise. I assured the lady that I would be present at all times and would ensure that other guests would not be put out by my party, but was told that I could reserve a table for 10 adults at 6pm, but not for 12 year olds!

 Not impressed
Went there last night for the first time- a party of 7.Would have liked to have had a table outside but there was only a table for 6 available. While it looks lovely from outside, inside it lacks character. The menus are cheap and nasty.Didn't like the fact that there were no table cloths.Certainly not somewhere I would visit for a romantic evening. One of our group ordered a starter from the specials menu-field mushrooms. He was served one mushroom with a little slice of tomato on top.Another ordered a fillet steak and was served a rump. The waitress apologised and said that she had made a mistake.Seeing as all of us had got our meals at this point and had to make a start my friend had to sit and wait for another steak to be cooked while we ate.We also ordered chilli broccoli which was served almost uncooked. This cost £2.95 which was outrageous. One of the group ordered chunky chips and was served a bowl of chips that were stuck together and far from chunky. As far as I remember these were overpriced also. All in all ,not impressed and certainly will not be returning or recommending the Terrace. There are far better restaurants in Hornchurch and Upminster.

Clean, Smart place for a high street wine bar.
This is a lovely little wine bar, that has nice people.
It can get a bit too over crowded after about nine on a friday and Saturday night, but this is by no means a reason not to go in there. During the week it is a great little place to take the wife/ girlfriend/boyfriend, or all three.
Clean, tidy, great staff and a freindly atmosphere. All in all a good place to go.

 Nice and Friendly
I was in Harlow visiting some friends, who told me about a quaint little bar a few mins walk from their house.
When you first walk in, you are greeted with a smile from the friendly barman. Even some of the locals said Hello to me. I was very shocked by this, for I had been in a seedy little bar full of obnoxious, arrogant half-wits.
The drinks in this pub were cheap and refreshing and we were served nearly straight away.

DO NOT VISIT THIS PUB! The landlady is awful
Hi, i visited this pub on saturday 12th November 2005 to watch a popular local band (sowot) and was absolutely appalled by my first visit to this pub, the landlady was awful, she swore at the band, who were fantastic telling the lead singer she was tarty and having a go at the male musicians aswell, she swore at several drinkers and her bar staff, and from the moment we walked in (about 7.00) she was drunk. I heard a lot of horrible comments about her and i honestly would advise all visitors to keep well away. i know i wont be going back again - even if my fave band are going to be there.

 The What!!
This pub underwent a refurb some years ago. It now trades as @Barking or Solutions.
Unfortunately, it isn't the solution to ones search to quality beer! Mixed viewpoint, I feel due to badly trained bar staff in part. It does have a late licence at present, which is a bonus as it is the only pub in Barking that has!

This pub is going to be closing very shortly... owing to high rents and poor takings! That said Tim and Helen serve a good pint!

 Excellent little pub!
Excellent little pub! Very friendly atmosphere! During the week quiet background music, so you can relax and chat to friends over a nice drink and on Saturday evenings enjoy the disco with the regular DJ 'BIG PAUL' playing everything from 60s right thru to the latest music. And on Sundays enjoy roast dinners. Has a garden too!

 Good portions
We have visited your pub in Epping Essex, and found it to be a very friendly pub with well mannered staff, really good food and good portions of it too
Wednesday, March 23, 2005Rating: rosettes

 Your pub
I have just stayed in Epping and was happy to find an old english pub; to my surprise when getting inside it was very old with an open log fire burning. Very warm and welcoming to a friend and myself. We sat down after getting our drinks, and there was pleasant talk between ourselves and the staff. Then looking apon the menu we ordered our lunch. We did not except and main meal like this - we were stuffed. What a lovely place to send our friends we thought. However we recommend that your pub needs new toilets and wash basins and a good touch of decoration, as this is a lovely pub and we would like to visit again.

I have heard from a lady friend that this pub has a special on. This special includes 10 free drinks to females on a thursday night. Is it me or does this seem a little strange? Is the pub not enforcing the whole date rape idea through giving women free acess to alcohol therefore enticing them to drink it. This makes the pub a hotspot for weird perverted men who will take advantage at the first chance they get, it seems to me that you (the pub) are presenting them with this opportunity.

 Absolutely disgusting
I visited The Terrace bar and grill in Hornchurch with a group of friends tonight. We booked the table for 7.30 and were not served our main courses until 9.45, when one of our pary dared to complain about this to the manager, the police were called and this led to a very embarassing situation. I was absoluted disgusted with the way we were served and will never be visiting this restaurant again.

 forget the last comment
This is by far and away the best pub in Dagenham -and I know that isnt saying much!
I cannot understand the comment about the landlady, She is good, fair, does not put up with loud mouth fools(perhaps this is the reason for the above comment!).
The live entertainment is superb, always a good band on a Sunday, a good 'mixed' Disco on a Friday,a very good quiz on a Thursday -what more could you ask for? friendly service, reasonable prices and a good mix age group of customers.
p.s. Cath, can we have a free beer now?

Nice food and surroundings let down by rude staff.
This is a lovely pub and restuarant with a pleasant outlook across the Stour estuary which we visited one evening. The food was nice although in my opinion a bit expensive for what it was. However the main let down was the staff and one young lady behind the bar in particular whose rude and surly attitude towards ourselves as well as other customers completely spoilt our evening out.

 Nice place, very poor management
The Manager of this pub is an obnoxious and rude individual who should not be put in front of paying customers. The pub is a lovely place but I am afraid this Manager needs serious training in people skills. Regular with average lunch time spend £125 per week.

 Big lively pub
The main attraction of this pub is its lively atmosphere- particularly during televised international and West Ham football matches! Possibly best avoided at these times if you're not a fan.

 Good lively boozer
Doesn't look like much from the outside- the decor inside isn't much better and there are no real ales. That aside, this is a lively, atmospheric pub, probably best visited on a weekend evening when it's at its liveliest. Definitely worth stopping for a few here.

 Good beer- terrible atmosphere
This is a pub for the real ale fanatics only. The atmosphere is of mortuary standard, not helped by the presence of the most miserable barman in the licensed retail trade. If you want to listen to anoraks bore you all evening by all means stop here for a few. If you want to spend an enjoyable evening in a pleasant atmosphere, go somewhere else!

 The Haystack Canvey Island
On a day visit to Canvey we thought we would had a pub lunch with the kids. Only to find that apparently they do not hold a licence(as we were told by the barmaid) for children to eat on the premises..... I have never come across this before and thought this totally Anti Family... So if your thinking of taking the kids out for a meal steer clear of this pub, children just are not welcome.....
