 GOOD PUB/Great food
New owner Paulo has turned this place into a wonderful establishment. Beer prices are great and traditional Portuguese food is wonderful. Full satellite package Sky/BT/ESPN and all sports are played (not just football) late hours as well makes this a super venue.

 Terrible pub
Very unwelcoming, Ladylady gives you the evils as you walk in, surrounded by her own group of friends who also stare at you with glum faces. The food is awful readymade rubbish and very very over priced!! Change the landlord now!

i have always found this pub a good one. i have three children 9,4,&16mths they all enjoy the play area and food has always been good! the only bad thing i have to say is they need more staff serving drinks! i have been going here for years i do not drink just go for the peace of not cooking and for kids to have a play! :-)

 Changed Hands
18 July 2006

Again. Not for the better !

A clique stands down at the end of the bar (including the Gov); when you walk in, they all turn to look - to see who might be invading their quiet and dark space.

Place has nothing going for it - needs another change of hands.....a s a p

 Vibrant, village pub, very welcoming
Charming village pub where the landlord and landlady maintain a traditional welcome.

Well supported by locals, friendly banter with all those who visit, exceptionally clean, and nice beer garden to rear.

Always something happening, sports nights, live music, charity events.

Wide selection of great beers and guest ales.

Well worth a visit!

 OUR FAMILY MEAL
firstly dirty tables with napkins stuck to them, ordered shared starter for 3 this was served without plates. main courses of hot top salad 2x rump steak med- rare, and chicken breast arrived after a wait of at least an hour. steaks were cold and tough most salad ingredients missing, chicken was tough could not be cut with a steak knife! ! had to ask for cutlery and dressings. 3 x kids meals chips uncooked no tomato sauce available, kids did not receive their puddings at all. service was abysmal. eating area non smoking only bar area yet 2 tables next to us helped themselves to ash trays from bar and not one member of staff asked them not to smoke even when being served their food how inconsiderate and rude !!!
I WILL TAKE THIS FURTHER.

Pub does not have a complaints form.
Ordered Hot Top Salads, 2 steak and 1 chicken. Had to wait over an hour for food, told half an hour wait. One salad had no tomatoes, cucumber or cress. Steak cold and tough. Had to ask for steak knives. Could not cut cold chicken breast with steak knive. Surely one should not have to wait that long for salad plus topping. Sent food back and in the end we decided not to wait for another meal and my daughter in law asked for a refund, which was given. I've rated 1 because the starter was OK.

 Restaurant
My wife and i ate in the bar restaurant last week. I had the shank of Lamb and it was superb, best Ive had for a long time. Wife had steak and asked for welldone,no pink.Unfortunatley it came out medium. Staff were very accomadating and quickly recooked the steak and it came out perfect. Very nice food and friendly staff.

 EXCELLENT!
Since the new head chef Des has satrted the quality, although extremly good before, has increased 10 fold. The selection of wine have also improved to compliment the food. A good selection of Fish, Meat and vegatarian dishes are on offer. I make a point to take ladies there for dinner dates. Not one complaint yet!

Brilliant Food. Not the usual plastic food.
Tried this pub pub last night with a view to a big party after christmas. The food was beautiful, the staff friendly and the atmosphere relaxed and cosy. The guinea fowl with cumberland sauce (to die for!) was beautiful and served with a good selection of seasonal vegetables. My wife had a pudding (but I refrained having had more than enough with the main course) and was delighted with the orange and chocolate cheescake. Food was well presented and reasonably priced. We made a definite booking for the party after a lovely meal.
The present landlord has only been there for three months and deserves every success.
We understand the menu will be changed every 2 or 3 months.
