visted the tydd gote this sunday whilst visting family and i must say the carvery was lovely. we used to have sunday carvery in there when it first re opened and it was nice than. glad to see that the new owners are still serving excellent, fresh food. we really enjoyed it . the only comment i can add is the floor in the dinning room used to be tiled and now has carpet on it and looks very grubby with stains on it and i did notice dog hair on the other carpets in the bar area which is a shame. but lovely fresh food.

Be assured of a warm welcome & Good Food
We popped into the Tydd Gote Inn shortly after we moved to the area in April. We received such a warm welcome from Andy and Sara that we have eaten at the pub almost weekly since. All the staff contribute to the friendly atmosphere and the food, whether it be the a la carte menu or the carvery is excellent, always freshly cooked and hot. There are a good selection of vegetarian options and reasonably priced specials are often on the menu. The puds are all home made so it is an absolute dilemma whether to have a good old fashioned Spotted Dick or Treacle Sponge or one of Sara's cheesecakes - Malteser, choc orange, strawberry to name a few. Yummy. All the food is reasonably priced so it is excellent value for money too. Highly recommended!

Met up with some friends at the pub on Saturday. Whilst the evening entertainment was fantastic I would like to say that the seating in the bar was very uncomfortable and the pub itself looks like it needs updating. All in all I would recommend the pub and will visit again, although I will bring a cushion for my back as the chair are so uncomfortable

 extremley good
Having been out on a drive around the fens with the family I stumbled upon the Tydd Gote Inn. We went in as it was quite late in the day and we had not eaten yet. We were greeted with a smile by the young man behind the bar. We ordered, after looking through the menu and having some idle chit chat with the lad behind the bar we ordered food. 2 rib eye steaks, BBQ chicken and scampi.
The table was promptly laid and the food arrived after, all freshly cooked. The steaks were coocked to perfection exactly as we had asked them to be with somewhat exessivly generous portions. My daughter adored the BBQ chicken and the scampi came was delicious with lashings of tartare sauce to compliment it.
After thouroughly enjoying our meal went to pay. I though the barman had made a misstake when he said the bill was just over 25 and pointed out to him what we had. He then said it was BOGOF on all the main meals. I was overjoyed and will recoment this pub to anyone.

 not worth it
Where do I start. Mein hosts were no where to to be seen. A young lad who seemed more intent on playing the machines and pool eventually served out drinks. Over charged on one round and until we pointed it out failed to notice his mistake. The starter was fine but the main was abysmal. We chose the specials. I chose mushroom strogonof and the oh chose chilli chicken it was a bogf deal and this showed in the portion size. The rice was cold and the meal bland.
Shall we return I think not.

Best Pub around Ely and Newmarket
The Merry Monk provides a wonderful atmosphere in which to sample some of the best food and cooking for some miles in the region. Wonderfully presented, tasty local food is served without pretension by a friendly unobtrusive staff. The chef's interest in making sure that your meal is satisfactory is welcome but not distracting. The a la carte menu is varied and interesting, while the Sunday carvery leaves you feeling very sunday-ish and in need of your sofa for a pleasant post prandial snooze! Highly recommended. Visit today!

 Awesome Beer
A very friendly and welcoming watering hole where the beer is always well kept. A good selection of bitters but the highlight is the selection of local ales, especially from the Fenland Brewery. Well worth the extra few yards from the centre of town!

 Good Friendly Pub
A good friendly Puib with a mix of young and old, probably one of the cheapest places to drink in Ely despite it's prime position right next to the Cathedral. A good range of beers and food. Kept spottlesly clean. Well worth a visit.
