 Good food
The Pied is a decent pub with decent food. There's a fat Welshman and Geordie that have it as their second home and the landlady is very stressed out!
I was in there watching football but they seem allergic to having any sound on so the atmosphere was poor. Could be a great pub but certain things let them down.

 Friendly riverside pub
The Ship is a welcoming recently refurbished riverside pub serving good beers and excellent pub grub. They are relaxed about well behaved dogs and the regulars are friendly

 Top atmosphere
Great place to hang out with friends once or twice a week and for watching football. Good pint of John Smith's and great atmosphere, even though I'm welsh in an irish bar

one of the top 10 pubs in britian. The most friendly and welcoming establishments I have frequented. Best pint of black gold in Lincolnshire.

 great food!
I recently went back to the poacher for a meal with some friends, and have to say the food, atmosphere, and decor is all improved beyond measure under the new management. we all really enjoyed our meals and the prices were very reasonable and the staff were lovely.
Would recommend.

N Terpise Inns
Get New Management in now Enterprise Inns
Finally - after whats seems like months of waiting the disgrace that was the Poacher appears to have shut down - the reason I have heard is lack of business. Hopefully now new owners will come in and restore the pub to glory now that the obnoxious owner has run out of funds to subsidise the few customers it attracts.
Has to be said it could not have happened to a nicer man.

 AVOID!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone who wants a lesson on how NOT to run a business should visit the Lincolnshire Poacher. The one benefit that this pub has is that you will not be waiting long to be served as you will be one of 2 or 3 in there and thats on a busy day. Food is awful and the owner (the one with who looks like Lily Savage with strange died blonde hair) is a total ####.

Spalding Born and Bred
 Pub and Staff
I find that the pub in the last 6 months or so has gone downhill at a rapid rate - what was once the best pub in Spalding is now a shadow of what it was - the manager is arrogant beyond words and the food is poor - and has now gone up in price to compensate for lack of trade - give it a wide birth!!!!!

 Best food in town
No longer the cold dark place that it was. Now without doubt the best pub food in town. Good staff with a superb B and B.

Beer is second to none and superbly priced.

Try and see for yourself

 Getting better
We live just a few hundred yards from this pub . Never been much of a local. We usually go to the Golden Ball, but judging by the fantastic musical sounds coming from the Plough this Sunday afternoon, the Plough is putting itself on the map. Good luck to them looks like its going to be this family's new local.

What a lovely pub!!! The food was fantastic, the new owners were great and really know how to make your evening special. I have recommended The Golden Ball to all my friends and family as it really was brilliant. Give it a try, you won't be disappionted!

 Brilliant
This is the best pub around here for food and drink. If your not from around this area, I recommend The Bull to you. All the food is homemade and the service is superb. Everyone knows The Bull for its excellent food and service

 nice,fun,loud and relaxing
nice place for a quiet drink in the week, watch out for the dreaded kareoke night where all the awfull tone-deaf slightly intoxicated people (mainly girls wearing a piece of dental floss and 2 tassles and calling it a great look for winter.
Good fun at the weekend but loud and you normally tend to get ordered around and told where to go to stand/sit by everyone including the bouners. you just feel generally moody and in the way of everyone else.
I like it in here but the people could do with a personality transplant and the bar staff could do with maybe smiling or acting like there job here isnt a complete bore.

 Lincolnshire Poacher
The person who was 'in-charge' of the B&B in May 2006, has now terminated her contract with us and is now running her own pub; and I now take good care of the B&B.

 God Food
We eat there every few months. Always good food and friendly service. Interesting location by a canal and a railway and an interesting thatched building.

 Pleasant and friendly.
A warm welcome awaits anyone who enters this establishment. I was greeted by Maria, one of the owners, (the others being John and Jack), with a welcome that was both friendly and hospitable. An old Coaching Inn dating back to the 18th Century, close to the old Railway Station at the South end of Holbeach. The Ales and Lagers are kept to the highest standards, and the perfect temperature. The drinks that I had were clean and crisp tasting and served with the excellent company of the owners and locals alike. The atmosphere in this pub was one of friendship and harmony, as the locals of all ages seem to mix together and enjoy each others company.
I stayed for Lunch on Sunday and must say that it was well presented, tasty and very filling. I must complement the chef on a very enjoyable meal.
Although I did not stay in the pub, I did find out that they do B&B and evening meals, so on my next visit to Holbeach or in that vicinity, I will definitely be booking into The Station Inn to sample more of this unique atmosphere.

Thanks again to Maria, John and Jack for a very enjoyable experience.

 top pub
i have visited many pubs all over the country and in most i have sampled the food as well as their beer.yesterday (fri22/12) my brother and i went to the town for a lunchtime drink and eventually ended up in the pied calf.
i have not visited this pub for a long time and ive got to say that we were very impressed as the beer was very good and the food we ordered came swiftly and was very good value for money!!
the pied calf is now a place i certainly shall be taking my misses to in future as even the atmosphere was jovial and the bar staff were very polite and helpfull,
