This is a brilliant pub which has been fully refurbished by the new owner of the pub. It looks absolutely outstanding and always has a lot of customers inside. The manager of the pub is really friendly and if you're a regular she gives you free pints which is always good. I strongly recommended visiting the pub.

 Awful place
My son was assaulted by one of the low life's that go into that pub. Landlady totally unhelpful didn't call the police or ambulance and is protecting her little crew of misfits thus place should be closed down permanently

Used to be a nice pub, now run by Basil Fawlty - type landlady. Still a lovely spot but utter chaos - there are better options locally.

 such a great pub
Been coming to this pub for around 5 years,it is a very nice pub, you have the bar area like a workng mens section and then the eating area in the other side of the pub.
They do reasonable priced food and the mix grills are yum yum.
Staff always checking everything is ok.
Landlady very down to earth.

Nice post Chimatli, the East and North East areas of Los Angeles have been in lots of mvoeis, and why not, it's maybe the most interesting and historical part of LA.And here's a bit of information that I bet most people are unaware of. One of the most important and public members of the Black Panther Party, Eldrige Cleaver lived and grew up for a number of years on the Eastside. Cleaver lived and went to school as a kid in the Rose Hills Housing Projects and writes about his experience in a short story when he and some Chicano kids from the neighborhood burn down an elementary school. I believe this period of his life is also mentioned in his great groundbreaking book Soul On Ice .

 worst run pub in derby
if you are thinking of running an event i would not consider this venue as i have found that out the hard way!!!. the landlord i fount to be extremely rude i have never had to deal with someone so rude in my life i run a charity event for oxfam and fount out that the pub had sold tickets i gave them to sale for the event but had kept the money as well as not keeping to a deal of 10% of bar takings going to the curse as well as just not keeping to any agreements they had made. this is bad enough but when its charity what as been ripped off its just discussing

The Sitwell - a great venue
The Sitwell is probably the only biker's pub left in Derby. It has a great atmosphere and the staff and owners are good, down to earth people.

Plenty of entertainment all year 'round.

And there's definitely no attitude (unless you're giving it some to start with).

A great night out

 Nice pub
I've been to this pub a couple of times and although service can sometimes be a little slow, it's only because they are serving other people & staff are always welcoming. Prices are reasonable for portion sizes.

Great pub in a beautiful part of the countryside in Derbyshire.Great interiors and gardens I fondly remember from my youth in the old 1970s while my family the Rodgers lived at nearby Matlock Bath in Holloway.Long may the success of this great Public House Continue

 Well Well Well
We all make mistakes ! Thought it was a fluke that no steak was available on our last visit ooo and that the sweet menu was ok provided that Ice Cream was to your liking... cause the rest was unavailable oh and it took 1hr 20 to get the food. This was at the point when our guests and us were going to the Jonty Farmer.Well today we thought we would give it a go yes an empty pub, no food, no burgers and guess what another wait for food not so bad today, well it was not exactly busy,45 mins. I thinks we won't go back again. No point in complaining this company seems to have a dedicated compalints site...

Always a great place to be
I would recommend the bless to anyone. its the best bar in derby by a hell of a long way, iam 33 and i started drinking in there when i was 18, i have never once seen any trouble in there. the bar staff have always been fantastic the food is good the drinks are good and they always have some kind of offer on something. it mostly caters for indie and rock and grunge styles of music and thats great for me. the place is so relaxed you dont have to be on guard in case theres any trouble going to errupt, i recently went there on a friday night. there was 15 of us from work the age range was from 28 upto 71 and the dj played songs to suit all, no one looked out of place, i could carry on and on and on, this place is great. try it

 The bar maid...
I must admit that i have also suffered the rath of an unruley bar maid. most probably the same one she had a lip piercing with brown hair. funnily enough weather you were drunk or not the manager would of asked you to leave as he is in a relationship with the bar maid.
They are often cuddling behind the bar and to be perfectly honest i would never drink there again.
There are some lovely pubs in derby but unfortunatley the Bless scores a fail on behalf of the rude and unprofessional staff.

 Great Place to socialize
The Napier is a great place to socialize with friends and have a great time, the car staff are always friendly and never short of a laugh.

The prices are also a great treat for the customers, not high-ending the alcohol prices and keeping them really quite modest, most places charge upwards of 3 for a bottle nowadays, the Napier sells theres for a lot lower than that.

As for the beer, they have lager and bitter on tap and they charge a very reasonable 2.50 compared to most bars, pubs and clubs now charging more than 2.80 or even upwards of 3, (I think the average in Derby is now 3.30 per pint so this is way below)

They also have entertainments inside, with gambling games like the fruit machine and the IT box, they even have a tv if you want to watch coro whilst having a sup. The Pool table is in great shape too, and not all ripped and torn like a lot of regular haunts.

In the summer they also have a beer garden thats great for everyone. Also been told that they are going to start doing karaoke nights and entertainment evenings like quizzes, sounds great to me.

All in all I love this pub, its a cosy and welcoming place and you dont feel any kind of bad atmosphere, the people are great the beer is great, My rating 4 stars at least,

Go on take a visit you might just like it.

(FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT DONT KNOW WHERE THE NAPIER IS, IT'S SITUATED ON MILTON STREET, JUST OFF CAMDEN STREET)

Upset by how I was treated
I really enjoyed it there until something kicked off there's good music, me, my boyfriend and my sister went to celebrate my 21st, was having a good time, but at closing time, i still had a drink left, and when a member of staff asked my boyfriend to drink up, he nicely answered it wasn't his drink, i was told to put my drink down and f off and i got my drink pulled off me and we got pushed out, i thought it was really rude, and to be honest it hurt my feelings.

 Service ??
We went for a meal there today. The place is lovely. The food was really good and fantastic value but the service was awful.
The poor lad that was working behind the carver had all the work to do his self. We were left waiting for a good 10 minutes for veg and potatoes to arrive and then again after that for gravy. It spoilt our meal out. I have run a pub myself and there is no way I would allow my staff to stand about and leave all the work to one person. The manager needs to understand that its team work that runs a place smoothly and today there was only one person on that team. Fair play to the young lad - he kept his cool and was very polite under the circumstances. He should be congratulated - but all the other members of staff should be reprimanded.

Visited this pub on Friday night 26th Jan 2007 to join a bunch of friends. A pub fequented some 20 years ago by both my parents. No problem gaining entry. Was asked by the bar staff for ID. Wouldn't accept my home office approved Citizen Card. Don't have a driving licence. Was then un-serimoniously man handled to the front door by one of the door staff! On whitnessing this, my friends (12 in all) drank up and left. Don't think we will be retuning! Well done Blessington!

This pub has been done up and rebranded as an Irish Bar called The Castle Bar. It's been painted green inside and got some Irish memorabilia.

The Saturday night I went there was an Irish band on and, to coin a phrase, it was a good craic.

The food in there is excellent as well. I had the scampi and chips which at under 4 was a bargain and big portions too.

All in all it's a cracking alehouse!!

I went into the Castle & Falcon having not been in for about 2 years.

From the dark and dingy pub that I visited 2 years ago, the place is totally different.

It's much brighter than I remember, and generally a lot more welcoming than my previous visits.

I've been back a few times since, and whilst it retains the character of a 'proper' drinking establishment it's a nice clean venue too.

The live music was brilliant too!!

All in all I cannot believe the improvement.

 Disappointing
The pub looks good and feels good to start with.

The restaurant is not up to it, however. The food is overpriced and unispiring. The place was empty when we visited (a Saturday evening) so the atmosphere was non existant.

The music was the awful panpipe/keyboard arrangements of 'popular classics' you might get free with the Bontempi you bought for your 10 year old last Christmas.
The full mezzi we ordered (4 adults) was over priced. The chicken dish had very little chicken in it; the starters were ok but at the price it should have been a lot better than just ok. We do not recommend this place as it is.
What it is crying out for is a visit from Gordon Ramsey. He would not be impressed with what's going on.

 Great range of real ale!
Tucked away just out of the main drag in Derby city centre, The Flowerpot has always got a great range of decent ale.
Funny thing is, there alwyas seems to be a bloke asleep somewhere in the bar!
They also put on some great tribute bands, my only crititcism being that the real ale selection does not extend into the room where they hold the gigs.

And where else in Derby can you get a pickled egg served in a paper bun case?!

 JD Pub
A JD conversion from a bank, this is a large, airy bar, it can be very busy, but the large bar area usually allows for fast service, although I have, on occasion, had to wave hands to attract attention. Ok, gripes out of the way, this is a typical JD pub, usual JD grub, usual JD beer range...although one or two star beers available, it's worth checking ALL the handpumps. Overall a fine pub, much better than the Edinburgh JD's of the same name.

I have been and will be visiting the blessington carriage for many years. In these years I have been greated by nothig but polite memebers of staff who serve up a decent standard of food. The music is always varied and caters to most people, although swaying towards the rockier side. Even on a weekend night I have never been greated by voilence or rudeness and I would recommend giving it a try.

Complaint regarding the staff at the Blessington
On Fri 17th March 06 I called into the Blessington Carriage for a drink with a friend. On being served at the bar as the bar maid was bringing my ordered drinks over I was searching through my bag for my money so that I could pay her, which I unfortunately couldn't find. I explained to the bar maid, 'I can't find my money so could you please put the drinks behind the bar until I've sorted it out', to which she immediately became verbally aggressive, shouting, 'put exactly where behind the bar, you're drunk!'. Although shocked by her unsympathetic reaction, I was much too concerned as too possibly having lost my money, so I didn't react and went with a friend to the toilets and emptied out my bag where I luckily found my money which has slipped out of a pocket in my bag into the bottom of my bag. I then went back up to the bar with my friend to purchase the drinks that I'd previously ordered and was looked over to but totally ignored by the bar maid, so I went up to her and asked to see management to which the bar maid replied, 'No!'. She then walked off and I saw her talking to one of the male bar staff. Another bar maid was walking by, so I caught her eye and asked her if I could speak to management, to which she went up to the same man that the unpleasant bar maid was talking to. After a good few minutes the bar manager came over and my friend and myself started to explain what had happened, and we were blocked by him, also saying that I was drunk, and that he could serve my friend but if she gave me alcohol she would be committing an offence! I tried to talk to him, saying to him that if he listened to me that I was totally coherent and in no way drunk, to which he very patronisingly answered, 'I can't understand a word you're saying love!' I can honestly say that I wasn't drunk, as my friend any myself hadn't gone out till late, my friend was driving and we were having a quiet evening out, and we had both only had one glass of wine before we went into the Blessington carriage. I'm still upset by the incident, firstly because the bar maid was so unnecessarily unpleasant and secondly that the manager had already made up his mind that his bar maid was in the right before he'd even spoken to me, and it ruined what had been up till then a perfectly nice evening. I'm hoping that you will post this complaint on your web site as I wasn't given room to complain on the evening concerned.
If I had of been drunk I would of held my hands up to it and been mortified that I'd caused offence to people, but as it was I was sober and because of the pure unpleasantness of the situation and the people concerned I will not be going into the Blessington carriage ever again!

This bar is absolutely awesome.
As a student that moved to Derby last year (2004) I have spent many a day and night in Seymours as they have the best juke-box in town & also the coolest & funkiest bar staff.

Overall it is a nice pub to go & chill in if its the winter by the big open fires at any time or a Summer weekend when its rammed & the atmosphere is always amazing!!!!

 Good Boozer with poor staff
This is a village pub that has been destroyed since a change of staff.
We have to sit and listen to the television home and away corry and all that rubbish this is the reason we go for a pint to get way from it.
No smoking at the bar even though the staff smoke and have to stand in the middle of the pub and you wait until they have finished there fag.
I did smoke but do not now I wonder if smoking is a problem all of a sudden why dont they stop.
No swearing now even no one is in the pub they sit and listen at your conversation and jump in when required making the point no swearing.
The landlady lets you say some swear words its daft.
Just take a look at the takings it must be affected.
I would say most people who I used to drink with now drink in the malt across the road.
Its a shame really we luv our pub and have done for years and years and then you get staff who dont know how to run a village pub.
The final straw was they admitted they dint know what well dressing was and they hold a venue there each year were approx 500 people turn up.
Lets have some good staff who know how to run a pub in a village

The beer is good, the [i]wine[/url] is good & the service is even better.
Fun pub games in the beer garden as well!

If only this pub did food.....

Mrs Linda Cribbens
Meal at Fox & Hounds Saturday 14th May 2005
We visited your restaurant last Saturday at 8pm.
I asked beforehand for a copy of the menu to be faxed to me. This did not appear, but a lady in the kitchen answered the telephone and politely gave me an idea of what was on the menu.
Upon entering the restaurant these was a rather unpleasant smell a little like cabbage which was a little off putting.
The idea of the comfy settees in the bar area was good, but the actual restaurant surroundings themselves were very poor.
I could see that a minimalistic approach was trying to be achieved, but the pine tables and chairs, heavily patterned carpet did not match the menu.
Food - There was not a great selection of foods on the menu. I chose Thai fish cakes with a ginger relish. The Thai cakes were quite bland, no real taste to them. and the ginger was not really apparent .
For the main course I had venison. It was nicely cooked. A good selection of vegetables, but the did not stay hot and became cold very quickly.
The sauce on the venison could have been more special. It seemed to be just a gravy! Shame.
It would have been nice to be offered some sauces, i.e. mustard, etc. to go with the meal as the meal itself seemed too dry.
We decided not to purchase a sweet but had coffee, which came along with some nice chocoloates, but at 2.25 a cup, a little expensive we thought.
In total there were only 4 tables occupied including ourselves which did not create the right ambience.
The wine list was good.
We visited the restaurant as it is local to ourselves.
We were looking for a special meal, in nice surroundings with good wholesome food that was a little out of the ordinary..
We felt disappointed at the end of our meal.
At a cost of over 50.00 for 2 people, we will not be eating here again and feel very reluctant to recommend you to our friends.
I hope that you find these comments useful and are able to use them to improve things in your restaurant.

 Congratulations
I am writing to congratulate the Jonty Farmer in Derby on the fantastic reception that they dealt us when we turned up to eat on Saturday 5th February 2005. 19 of us descended on them at 6pm. The barmaids were helpful and polite and the Waitress rushed around making sure everyone had the meal that they had ordered. The meals were very tasty. Well done to Simon and his team for playing host for the evening

 Good Food, Lovely welcome.
I have been going to the Jonty since Simon and Sue took over and have found that the food is great. My family especially like the lasagne.

We always get greeted by either Simon or Sue and in most cases they will try to visit the table to ask if every thing is satisfactory. I would like to take this chance to say thank you to Simon, Sue and all the staff at the Jonty Farmer for their kindness to myself and all of my family everytime that we visit.

 great sky
the jonty farmer is the place to be for derby and england games on sky. they have a big screen tv and 4 tv's so you can not fail to see the match any where in the pub. simon and sue always have extra staff on in advance for the big games and they work themselves even cleaning tables and glasses (how often do you see managers do that ! ) the staff are always friendly and happy and the pedi is very good for a food type pub

 Great Pub
This is a superb pub if you like rock/punk music. I have always found the staff and drinkers to be friendly. If you like good music, great people and a drink or two this is the pub for you. If you want trendy, smart & cocktails try somewhere else, like Zanzibars!

A nice pub shame about the locals
On first impressions i thought it was a very nice pub, nice atmosphere and the beer was good and a good service. As the night went on the locals came out of the woodwork. Some idiot called Andy rolling around on the floor pretending to shoot people with an imaginary gun! apart from that very nice!

 No windows
I've only been to this pub once. My mate saw a hole in the toilet door and thought it was a cat flap, so he put his foot through and started giggling to himself. We left soon after that. Beer was was a bit minging but it was cheep and we were drunk so we didn't mind.
