 Stay clear
When we arrived we were uncertain about staying because the pub itself didn't appear too clean - obviously not been vacuumed or dusted for a while!

However we decided that because of the good reviews we would stay for lunch. Wrong decision!!

All I can truthfully say is that this was the worst pub meal we have ever had!!

Terrible!

the victoria hotel has been under new management now for quite a few months. Dave and Sue are doing amazing, there is no other wy to put it, the food is on time and the drinks are always given to you from a friendly and caring barman/woman. I took my family to the Victoria for a meal over the Christmas period. We found the service excellent , the food delicious and the new landlord to be a really pleasant chap. I live abroad now but used to live in walshaw when the Victoria was not so good as it is now. I have travelled a lot and I would definitely recommend this pub to anyone!

Horrible pub, very noisy at weekends with rowdy crowd shouting & swearing in the car park all afternoon - not the place to go if you have children or if just want a quiet drink. the landlord doesn,t care who goes there as long as they buy his beer.

Dave & Sue have been in the Victoria for about 4 months now & are doing a fantastic job, drinks are at a great low price, food is excellent - I highly recommend Sue's Soups, a new chef has just been appointed & the customers are very friendly & welcoming. Cheers Dave & Sue

 Awful place
lovely beer garden with bouncy castle for kids - only trouble is local chavs sit there getting drunk whilst their teenage kids run riot. We had to carry our 2 yr old away crying because we could not let him go on the castle which was supposedly for under tens but was taken over by unruly teens. Shame on the landlord who did nothing - presumably did not care as long as the parents were lining his pockets. We wont be going back!

The Swan & Cemetry, Bury are under new management, I haven't been there for years. My mother and I went theirfor our evening meal on Saturday 7th August, 2010 and really enjoyed it. The place was buzzing when my mother went in at lunch-time to book the table, and it was still buzzing when we arrived for our meal at 7.00 pm. We are local and will certainly be eating their again. Apparantly, 2 builders have taken over it and the food is excellent and the staff are very polite and welcoming. It must have had bad management before, but it's certainly making up for it now. Excellent.

 Rubbish Food
I went on the Sunday 30th May 2010. Never again. Food was absolutely rubbish. I had the steak & ale pie. Pastry soggy as it was microwaved!!!

My friend had the scampi. Had to leave it as every time she bit into it, fat squirted out!!! Yuck.

What a shame. !

Food was hot.

 Can food taste worse?
Fresh food? It maybe prepared fresh on site at the start of the week then freezing it or making enough to sell for the whole week is bang out of order!! The meal i and my family had there looked as though is was a week old, no colour, taste, cold, wasn't even busy so i can't think why it was sent out like that. When i asked for the manager i was told he was busy, yet i could see him at the end of the bar looking over with a smirk on his face not bothered, we ended up walking out without so much as a bye never mind a sorry! Never ever eat there its a joke!!!!!!!

 Poor service and food
We have regularly eaten at the Pack Horse Innn and enjoyed the fact that the menu is varied and the food is usually good. However we visited the newly refurbished and extended Restraunt in Aug 2006 and were sorely dissapointed, the restraunt was gorgeous and very clean, howver the highchair provided was gubby, service was very slow dispite being vitrually empty and the food was poor to the point that most of it was left on the plate. None of the waiting staff checked to see if we were happy with the meal and I resorted to writing to the manager who has still not responded 4 weeks later. I am very dissapointed as we used to enjoy frequenting this establishment but now am left to feel that they really don't care about their customers.

 Rubbish service
Visited the put for Sunday lunch and sat outside. Before our meal was served it started to rain but were locked out by the staff as they were full. (we did book our table) They forgot two of our meals and when we complained we were told they it was our fault as we hadn't ordered them. No apology not even an offer to get them for us. When we told them their customer service was non existent we were told not to bother coming back then.

 selective hours
We were just in there and the sign at the entrance door clearly states that the closing time on a Friday night is 12.00. The landlady informed us that as it was 'quiet' last orders was 11pm. Despite my protestations she said that the licensing hours were at her discretion (despite the notice). Is this legal?

 HMMMM???
Not to sure about this pub, one moment it seems ok but another it doesnt, seems to be full of kids to me that think they are older.
it gets very busy so you end up spending most of your time waiting to be served and there may be good music but to be able to see it u have to cramp into a smaller room or look through a whole in the wall.

Well I visited this pub after moving to the area, and found it a warm welcoming envioroment to be in. No rowdy teenagers! Just couples drinking together making polite conversation.

 proper pub
A traditional working man's pub with the best beer garden for miles around and ample parking at the rear. Good regular clientele. Serves JW Lees real ale. Has a longe area, a little 'snug' area and a lino floored tap room for the 'lads'. A far better pub than the nearby bigger ones or the ones down in the town centre.

 Manager needs training
Rude, unwelcoming manager. An error by the staff was turned around to be our fault. Abusive comments by him made to one of our party for no reason - we were told that ' insignificant, little people like us were not welcome'. Needless to say we will not be visiting this pub again - and neither will any of our 200 colleagues!!! We have spread the word.

 Rude staff
My colleagues and I visited the Swan & Cemetery after we had pre booked a table. There was a mistake on their part with the booking so we were turfed off our table and into the 'smokey bar'. The manager was rude and down right obnoxious, we have never encountered such nasty and unhlepful staff. Needless to say we will not be visiting again and as we work for a large organisation, we have spread the word. If you want to eat out and be treated with courtesy do not visit this establishment.

 Best Pub in the World.
Personally I belive that the Two Tubs has to be the best pub in the world. It has the most relaxed atmosphere I have ever experienced in a Pub. The bar staff are friendly, the beer is spot on and the regulars are excellent company. I often pop in for just the One but always end up stopping for hours chatting away in the front bar (my favourite bar).

 Not brilliant!
As a former regular of the pub I thought that i would share my experience. Gone down the pan since new management took over, if you like dogs this pub is for you as there is one running loose around the pub, causing havoc i.e. barking, excreting on floor. It gets better dont worry not only is there a dog but a lack of beer! Runs out regularly so not a pub for the thirsty!
