 cycle ride
We only popped in on our cycle ride home, really friendly locals and bar staff. We stayed for five hours and will recommend it anyone. The food was excellent and real ale top notch. Everyone said we should try the Sunday lunch and steak night on Thursdays, our local used to be the poet and castle but no anymore.

Very dissapointed customer
 Never again!!!!
I came into this bar with my partner and were greeted with a very rude bar manager...he was a little polish guy. He didnt use any manners and was very abrupt and rude with us. We didnt end up having a drink and we walked out. He definitely shouldnt be a manager in a bar in town. Very dissapointing as i have heard good things about this bar!

 Great refurb
I visited the Thurland Hall after it's refurb Jan 2011. It is very upmarket and well decorated. Loved the girls at the bar and would definately recommend this place for 25years+, probably not students as it doesn't offer discounts. Nice food and nice service. Oh and the coffee was YUM!

 Nice pub terrible management/ staff
A fantastic family pub, friendly locals who have been drinking here for many a moon. Very little students drink here due to the prices, students prefer cheap beer (the grove) or cheap spirits and late night drinking ( bag o nails). The management and new staff here have stinking attitude, .. They lack respect and are not very welcoming !strange people, and also unsure of what custom they are after...

The pub has been nose diving in popularity in the last 24 months, pls sown rescue this place. It has previously won best pub in nottm during the noughties

 Wonderful meal
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful meal here on Thursday. We had dropped our son at the airport and found the pub by accident on our way home to Lincs. We found the atmosphere welcoming and the food very good. We will call again - it is not too far from home.well done to Gary, Vicky and staff.

I stumbled upon the Thurland Hall whilst looking for live music on a Monday night, what a mistake! Inside it felt like I was transported to the New York Underground at the Bronx. I was told by the cab driver the next day I was lucky to come out alive, fortunately I was only in Nottingham on business but the memory will live with me forever!

 Love it
Nice pub with a great beer garden. Interioris looking a little faded these days, but I think that's part of the charm! Food is good and what you'd expect of a pub, as we as the usual nice fish special.

I've always found the staff quite friendly and helpful. Certainly a great deal better than most you'd fine around nottingham city

 New owners - Good pub
We just moved into the area in Oct 06 and were told that the Plough was expecting new owners. They are Mark and Racheal who make great hosts. We are fast becoming regulars enjoying their food, wine, beer and service. Not bad considering I'm a dreadful food snob!!

 Tasty, Friendly, Trendy!
After a massive and much needed refurbishment done to a very high standard we found this refreshing and modern but with a subtle twist of traditional.

The food was excellent and we have tried it twice since to be sure. Well prepered by friendly staff, clean tidy, good value all round.. what more can you expect!

Will be going again and recommending for sure. Lets hope the standards don't slip..

 Worth checking out.
Taken over and refurbished by Mark and Rachel in September and looking and feeling good. The interior's looking warm and inviting, the beer's is in good nick and the food is a very pleasant surprise. It's a reassuringly small menu, so there isn't the nagging doubt that it's all been done in a microwave.

We had Sunday lunch in the small restaurant . The quality was excellent and the presentation and service was pretty much 100%. We were all carnivourous so I can't comment on the veggie option, but there were no complaints about the roast beef or lamb and my dad was delighted with the seabass.

 Great pub / Animal doormen
If you do go to this pub you will have a great time....until you have to walk past their neanderthal gorrilas on the door.

As I was leaving the pub last night there had been some incident involving a guy and they were kicking him out (literally). As I walked toward the door one of these twats landed a right hook on me, busting my lip. I hadn't been involved in the incident and this was clearly a case of mistaken identity as I hadn't anything done or said a single word. Infact I'd been having a great time as I always do when I go to The Thurland.

What annoys me is what gives these tossers the right to HIT people whether they have done anythng or not? When I tried to protest my innocence (in a civil and non-violent manner) I was just told to go away. Obviously I have reported the incident to the police (not that that will make any difference) and I won't be drinking there again. I would encourage anyone to boycott the pub in the same way....for as long as these meat-heads remain on the door.

 What Happened?
Re.the Goose Fair public house. Hucknall Road. Bullwell Nottingham. Opened xmas 1982 .I was the first licensee at the opening of the above. What a great pub in those days; after being with SHIPSTONES for several years I returned to my home town of Stockport. I last visited the pub approx 5 years ago; all seemed ok. Recently I spent some time on a nostalga trip to Nottingham. I could not believe my eyes. The pub was no more. All there is a building site. How could a 22 year old pub be demolished ? Can you give me any info on what happened. When this pub opened it was a major mega busy place to be. I had a great time there in my short stay. thanks KEITH.

We went to the ferry last night,Orderd our food at 19:00 at 19:45 our starters came out (COLD!) and by 20:45 with no mains we went to get a refund,Only to find others at the till getting refunds..The service is rubbish there!

We dine there five or six times a year but not anymore. There must have been some staff changes as the place used to be good.

I would suggest that senior management look into the way the ferry is running as six complaints of missing meals in one night is just not on!

 Dining
My friend and I went to the plough for dinner last night (July 20, 2005) which was absolutley lovely, cant fault the chef at all. The cutlery could do with being placed with something more substantial to hold and to compliment the china. I did find it hard to relax in an informal dinning area but also had the traditional pub next door. The 2 dont mix. I will be happy to recommend the restaurant to my friends but I think a few things need to change to warrant the prices. Such as better service, cutlery and decor in the pub to enhance the food atmosphere.
kind regards

 Dining out ?
The Bridge at Gamston in Nottingham is now the most talked about dining out venue in the area. A fantastic new menu, and a brilliant and friendly team, makes the experience well worth while. Ideally situated for the Holme Pierrepoint Water Sports Centre, it makes an ideal place to chill out.

we called for a relaxing sunday lunch, how wrong we were, it was like sitting in the middle of a war zone, children running about all over screaming, adults shouting, a lady changing a young childs nappy on the table close to us, the staff were slovenly and unclean in appearance. We cancelled our meal and got a refund, it was far from the enjoyable experience we had expected, we definitely will not be visiting there or recommending it to anyone for sure!!

 Friendly
Here's a pub which has a friendly atmosphere, with a mix of locals and students. It has a gaudy colour scheme with a strange purple colour on the outside, and pink and yellow inside. Entertainment here consists of pool table and darts facilities, as well as disco nights. It is on a busy high street with other bars as well making it a great place to go out

 A great place !
The Durham Ox in Brinsley in a great place for a drink with a large beer garden set up with a great clibming frame for children and also a smaller climbing frame for toddlers. If you are to go to the durham please be sure to check this out. The inside is also very nice with a best side and a bar side and also has a pool room. If your looking for a game of darts just go into the bar side were there is a dart board and also if your after a game of dominoes just ask behind the bar and they will pass you some over. Please check out this pub its a great place to go :-)
