Clair What rubbish? | ||
In regards to the previous posting about the cleanliness of the Old Post Office. I work there and believe that it is the best pub within the town. We have in the past had compications with cleaners - which is now all behind us and the place shines with cleanilness! I do agree that our Sunday lunches are fab! I believe that we combine our daytime 'coffee crowd' and our younger night time groups with skill and simplicity. It is a great place to hang out or gear up for a night out! It is an assest to the town!

Ronnie Not a pleasant stay
We decided to spend a long weekend in Nottinghamshire about a year ago and we stayed here. We got up at 6am the next the morning and sneaked out, going straight home. It was dreadful - there was a mouldy smell in the room, stains on the bedding, the shower curtain was mouldy and we were directly above the pub dance floor and could hear every beat of the music vibrating through the floor. Never again and absolutely not recommended.

Interesting purple Art Deco type decoration. Friendly local pub, with excellent food, and good atmosphere generated by your hosts Michael and Gloria. Recomendation : do the quiz and play 'Click' on a Wednesday evening.

Tony Sunday Lunch | ||
Hi. My wife and I regularly visit the Old Post Office, Newark, for Sunday Lunch. We reckon its the best sunday pub lunch in town and is always served piping hot and the stall are always helpful. One black mark unfortunately is the level of cleanliness. The bases of some of the chairs are filthy and at the garden end the accumulation of rubbish under the settees indicates that the cleaners dont move them very often. Under radiators is as bad. We will continue to patronise the pub but hope that our comments will lead to some improvement. Regards, Tony

Mark Wardle Stunning country pub!
The effort and skill that has been put in to rebuilding this 16th Century listed building is quite simply breatth taking, it's worth a visit just to admire the time and care that has actually been put into this place. Mein Host, Malcolm greets you with a warm welcome and seemingly time to explain any curios that you wish to ask about the building and it's history. The menu is extensive.Although I didn't have the time to dine there, the fayre looked positively stunning! A good range of beers shouldl cater for most tastes. Tourers and tents are welcomed and can take advantage of shower facilities. Adjacent to the pub are fabulous walks along the trent. A drive through the countryside and a meal or a stay-over at the Brownlow Arms is certainly not the worst thing to do during a spare day at the weekend. Enjoy! I did!!

vickster best pub in town
The weatsheaf has a lot going for it in terms of people, atmosphere and general entertainment. Anyone who has respect for others is welcome in the pub and can join in the friendly banter. It is also one of the safest places to go out drinking, as it is rare that trouble kicks off (unlike alot of other places in good old Newark). The staff are sound and the place has a warm and 'well used' feel to it. What can I say, t'is the best place to drink in Newark and its the staff and regulars that make it such a grest pub.
